Teaching Objective

Cultivating students to master basic skills of the sculpture, learning theory and creative landscape space, effectively grasp the humanistic ideas of heritage, the skills and basic knowledge needed in public art and sculpture.

Background of ECNU and Department of Fine Arts

East China Normal University (ECNU) was founded in October 1951, is a national key university under the Ministry of National Education, and is one of the national "211 Project" and "985 Project" key construction of high-level universities, is one of the famous garden style universities in Shanghai.

Department of Fine Arts (DFA) aims to foster creative contemporary Chinese artist and art educator, since enrollment from 1984, it has trained a number of well-known artists and professionals for arts organizations and publishing, mainly engaged in teachers, professional designers, art theory and art criticism. New teaching philosophy make students obtaining a higher level of artistic skills in the period of undergraduate and postgraduate, works won best prize award in major exhibitions at home and abroad.

The department of Fine Arts has three major directions, painting, the fine arts education and Sculpture and public art. Among them Painting direction uses studio teaching mode with painting studio, comprehensive painting studio, Chinese painting studio with materials and ideas and morphology studio. The studios are host by well-known artists and l Professor.

1. High school qualification or above with valid foreign passport.

2. Following students should meet the conditions set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC:

(1) Students who emigrate from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and obtain the foreign nationality;

(2) Students, whose parents (either or both) hold Chinese nationality and reside abroad, acquire foreign nationality at the time of birth.

3. The students who apply for the program of English for overseas students or programs in the School of International Chinese Studies should have HSK-4 with a passing score of 180 or above, and HSK-5 with a passing score of 180 or above is required for other Chinese-taught programs.

4. Guardian's Letter of Guarantee is required for applicants under 18 years old. The guardian should be in China.

Graduating students should provide a certificate of impending graduation. The expected time to obtain the degree certificate should be earlier than August 31, and the graduation certificate must be submitted when registering.

Applicants of Chinese-taught programs should write in Chinese.

9. For applicants of School of design, a video of self-introduction and design procedure will be needed.
