It's been years that I am interested to study in China and especially in Shanghai University. Journalism is something that I really like and I would like to study it and perfect myself there to make it my job.
The reasons why I chose Shanghai University are not only simple but obvious. The first one is that this university was established in 1922 (rebuilt 1994), that is to say, it has experience about quality in education as well as the good employability of the students. Only this experience provides meaning and accountability of the reality. The second aspect I was aware of was the curriculum of my major, which focuses on making the student suitable for all types of companies with regards to marketing. In addition to being located in Shanghai (a strategic city for my major), the last aspect to point out is that Shanghai University belongs to China 211 project: this project started in 1995 with the goal of raise research standards and cultivate strategies for socio-economic development. My objective is to learn Chinese well so that I can study my masters degree in Chinese next year. So I researched a few universities in Shanghai based on their ability to teach Chinese language that helps the student to be able to speak with an excellent accent and also provide a listening training that can help the student understand all Chinese accents. Motivation Letter Dear Sir, Dear Madam, i was waiting for this moment for a long time. Since i decided to study in China i can’t wait till I am there and the university starts. I am really excited and looking forward. I hope I will get the chance to study Finance in China, that’s all I want, that’s my biggest dream right now. I want to come to Shanghai, see and learn everything about the country and of course learn Chinese. I already started to go in a mandarin course, and I am making good steps, so if I am there in summer I will already be able to speak a bit. When I was 16, I made an internship in a german bank (Naspa) for a year. In this year I learned a lot of things about Finance, Business and Economics. I liked the work in the bank so much that I decided to make an apprenticeship after High School. So after I graduated from High School I was 18 years old. And then I started with my apprenticeship, the bank i worked in is called Rheingauer Volksbank, this took me two and a half years. In this two and a half years I could extend my knowledge about Banks, Business and Financial System. I opened bank accounts and credit cards for customers, I was an adviser for credits and savings. After my apprenticeship I changed to a bigger bank, to Deutsche Bank, the biggest german bank. The time there changed me a lot, I started to make plans for the future. I was thinking about to go abroad, to London or New York and study Finance. And that was actually my plan, till I talked to one of my co-workers. He is from China and he was working in the department for Corporate Finance. He was the one who gave me the Idea of going to shanghai and make my Bachelor degree there. He showed me that this is more advantageous, cause I already can speak english pretty well, and all the students go to London or New York, I wouldn’t be special, but if I go to China and study there for 4 years, that would open me all doors in the future. He told me that is getting more and more important to have a special CV, to have a lot international experience. And of course he told me that it would be a hard time too, 4 years of studying in china. I have to study and learn a lot, learn the language and make as much internships I can. Learn the country, learn the people and the culture, cause these days chinese companies are all over the world, China is a Global Player now, China is going to change the future. And I believe it too, since he told me that I couldn’t stop thinking about the idea to go to china for my Finance studies. I made so many researches about china, I read and I am still reading books about the traditions, culture and history of china, i am watching the news daily and informing myself online about the actual situation, about politics and economy, and everything what is going on right now in china. Personal Statement Ava Assadi I was 7 when my parents and I left everything behind in Iran to start a new life here in China. It was a whole other world for me, everything so delightfully different. Since I couldn’t communicate through words like everybody else, my ways of understanding my surroundings were through perceiving and then bringing all of that on paper through drawing. “When in China, do as the Chinese do” right? And so I did. I was enrolled in an all Chinese public school so I could take advantage of what will forever be the greatest opportunity 7 year-old Ava had. To learn Chinese. But until that day arrived when I suddenly started speaking Chinese out loud and had successfully grabbed everybody’s attention, my drawings, sign language and English had seen major improvements also, seeing as they were the only ways I could communicate with the outer world. I suppose my biggest inspiration behind learning all of the languages I have learnt in my life from Farsi to Spanish have all been because of my love for sharing everything I have to offer and learning from everyone I can. Learning languages in my opinion is what unites us, what takes away the boundaries and borders that have been made and put up to separate us. English has always been my favorite language, and my first grade teacher Miss Jenny and Disney are to thank for that. Despite only knowing how to say “Hello” “I am Ava” and “This is an apple” I would form tens of sentences with individual meanings and try having serious conversations with Miss Jenny using them. She was an inspiration to me, so kind and patient, taking our little conversations with even more little vocabulary just as seriously as I took them. In the afternoons my mom would put on my favorite Disney cartoons and TV series, I would watch and want so badly to understand everything, so out of my pure love for those shows and no other educational purpose, I would watch them again and again without realizing that I’m learning! The 8 years I spent in Chinese school taught me much more than just Chinese, I learnt teamwork, but at the same time the ability to stand strong on my own. I learnt responsibility, through those little daily chores we had to do at the end of each school day, I learnt so much about the real and beautiful Chinese culture, things I wouldn’t have gotten to learn if not for everyone I had the privilege of spending time with, growing up with. Things that most definitely groomed me for being able to handle any challenge that’s thrown my way. Growing up there were two things inseparable from my childhood. Painting and Music. Art is innate within some people, I believe I’m the luckiest to be blessed with that too. I was raised amongst artists, of all types from accessory design to graphic, film to music. And there’s nothing in the world I would rather spend my entire life doing. I believe everything, if done with passion is art though. Personal Statement. Taylor Davidson I am applying for a business degree at Shanghai University. I have a few reasons for choosing business as well as a few reasons for choosing Shanghai University. All of these reasons will be discussed in this personal statement and I hope to effectively convey myself. I have a recently acquired love for business. I say recently acquired because despite opting to choose business studies as a study subject in high school, I was never able to see the practicality of the information I was learning, and thus, did not have great passion towards the subject. However, after having taken some time after school, in order to properly decide what I would be doing with the rest of my life, I have developed a great love and passion for the business environment and everything that comes with it. Now that I have, seemingly by fate, immersed myself in the business environment, I have now seen how theory can be practically related and applied into everyday business experiences. Since I finished high school in 2013 I have spent my time deeply involved in self-education and learning, from first-hand experience, the ins and outs of the business environment and what it means to be successful in this field. For the past nine months I have been growing into a very successful sales position whereby I work for in sales and marketing with a large property developer in my native country, South Africa.
