The main aim was to assess whether or not, Lifuwu irrigation scheme has wind resource that can support windmill technology for irrigation farming instead of using unreliable electricity from the national grid. This experience helped me to develop relevant skills in managing my time effectively, writing succinctly and to analyze data using statistical packages such as SPSS. I wrote a report on my findings which was well received by my supervisor. As an engineering student I was and am still a member of the Malawi Institute of Engineers (MIE) which helps us to be up to date with the engineering world through interactions with individuals who are already in the industry. I have been learning Mandarin for 3 years and since then, I got passionate by this language and its writing which make its authenticity. In 2015, I even got the chance to go in Beijing for 15 days during a travel organized by my high school. Even though I spent a short time in China, I really enjoyed discovering its culture, meeting with its people, tasting its culinary specialty and learning about its various tourist sites. After my education in High-School, I have chosen to continue my learning of the Chinese language with the hope of finding a profession in which I could speak Chinese or that would unable me to work in China. I managed to persuade my parents to send me in an university in China to learn Mandarin in immersion as there is nothing better than being impregnated in its home country to learn a language. I have been corresponding regularly with a pen-pal from Ningbo whom I have known by social networks for 3 years. She told me about her city and her lifestyle that made me want to know more about Ningbo and its surrounding area. We took some information about Ningbo and it’s seems that everything matches with our needs. Moreover, I think that having a native friend close to where I study would be very helpful in my learning and in case of potentials problems. I asked my Chinese and English teachers for recommendation letters that I attached below. Therefore, I’m hoping that my application to Ningbo University will be successful.

As a beholder of the future tomorrow, I believe that it is of my purpose to stop social injustice caused by poor language proficiency in Chinese. With an enduring aim of making use of the system, I have always been eyeing for any opportunity that would improve my proficiency in the Chinese language. As a result, it has given me an intense desire of learning and pursuing my Chinese language studies in a well recognized university as such; not only to improve my proficiency, but also to be a great leader of tomorrow. A great leader needs to have some leadership skills, in which have successfully been able to earn during my era, as student Vice President. I have worked together with my student council with an aim of making the school a better place,not only for the present students,but also creating a great foundation for the school's future. As a result,I have earned effective cooperation and teamwork skills;which I will definitely need in my career.As a community service volunteer,I have also organized and supervised events such as a football tournament, fundraising for the victim of an earthquake that shock Kagera; a region in Tanzania. This also includes various contributions to the Mwandala Orphanage Centre,located in Mbweni,Dar es salaam. I also voluntarily opened a social media account on Instagram,Facebook and Snapchat;called iQuote24 with an aim of empowering the poetry community, by sharing underground poet's pieces and creative writing. Not only was I giving back to the community, but I also got a chance to know how to deal with huge responsibilities; something I will definitely need to know about, if I'm to become an International Entreprenuer. In terms of confidence, as an assistant coordinator of A level History class. I have been able to organize educational debates with other classes from different schools like Dar es Salaam Independent School (DIS), Heaven of Peace Academy (HOPAC), resulting to my boost in argumentative sessions, by using reliable evidence to support my statements,in which improved my public speaking skills and shaped me to be an effective Chinese language user in the future. I plan to use the knowledge I would acquire from your institution, in order to enrich the community of my home country and the worldwide community interested with the Chinese language. By doing so, I would be able to increase the number of proficient Chinese language users. Nevertheless, I plan to establish an institution with a purpose of educating people about the Chinese language. This would make them be less vulnerable to business trading with Chinese institutions which have been highly invested in doing business with entrepreneurs from my home country. With the little chances I have had, I have been able to make use of them not only for my own will, but for the benefit of my community and my people. "In 2014, 90% of the world's merchandise transited by sea", this is how started my dissertation on "Maritime Agent in French law" defended in September 2016. It is indeed this notice on the necessity of maritime transport, which led me to take an interest in maritime transport while I was still only in Bachelor’s degree. The second reason for my interest in this matter is that during my Research on this subject, I realized that the main port of Côte d'Ivoire, my country of origin, was ranked 1st on the region of West Africa and 8th on the whole continent. Yet I also found that there were not many specialists in the field. That is why I decided to be a lawyer specializing in this sector with the ambition to open a maritime law firm in Côte d'Ivoire later. Passionate about maritime law, I obtained a second year Master degree in Law of the sea and port activities at the University of Le Havre at the age of 17. In the framework of the validation of this Master 2, I completed an internship with the CMA CGM France Group, the leading French ship-owner and third in the world. I understood that my only training in French maritime law would not be sufficient to best meet the present and future needs of African ports, which have certain peculiarities. So I need some additional training that will certainly enable me to have a global vision of the maritime domain. The Port and Shipping Technology and Management Engineering program offered by Ningbo University thus appeared to me as the training that corresponds most to my criteria and professional objectives. This training, which is both theoretical and practical, will enable me to have a vast field of knowledge and skills that will help me later participate in the development of the ports of my country. Also, studying in China will allow me to see the world from a different angle. At CMA CGM, I worked in the legal department with the cargo claim service in charge of dispute resolution arising from maritime transport and the Corporates service, which deals with all juridical and non-maritime issues to carry out its activities. The master offered by the University is of capital importance insofar as it brings me the status of a good manageress very familiar with the legal situations linked to the management of a port and therefore to be sufficiently equipped to anticipate, to avoid certain problems and other developmental challenges. My internship enabled me to understand the different legal needs of a large ship-owner. I developed the capacities of adaptation and assimilation allowing me to go from one domain to another several times in the same day. Also, several other experiments have enabled me to develop certain human qualities. This is particularly the case of my participation in a competition of legal culture called "Juriste en herbe". This competition between several faculties of law in Côte d'Ivoire saw the team of my university which was at its first participation, composed only of girls. At only 14 years old, I was the captain of this team whose other members were at least 6 years older than I am. In spite of this, I was in charge of implementing the training program taking into account our timetable conflicting schedules, preparing the content of the training sessions and supervising the girls of my team so that they do not forget the studies of the current semester. This allowed me to develop a great capacity for teamwork and leadership that I could highlight during the exercises of groups proposed in the master. The following year I was involved in the design and implementation of an association within the Faculty that would now be responsible for supervising future applicants to the Legal Culture Competition. I was in charge of updating the university's web page and recruiting new candidates. I was able to develop communication and motivation skills. I finally was the tutor of two first year students while I was in the second year of law. This supervision continued until they were in Master 1. This experience enabled me to learn to identify problems and to provide solutions. I am from a small country in West Africa called The Gambia. THE REASON I WANT TO STUDY ABROAD I would like to study civil engineering or architecture from a broad because the education is more advanced than ours. Through television and internet we see that technology in Asia, Europe and America is far advanced than that of Africa. Studying in my mother country from primary education level to university would consider as “inbreed education”. I prefer to study in advanced countries and receive “high breed education or cross bread education” I have seen my fellow Rwandans who studied abroad are better than those who studies within the country. My Reasons of changing Ningbo University to do my MBBS courses till graduation is because of their affordable tuition and accommodation for foreign students, the teaching language of the course which is English and the duration of the course till completion. Here in Africa, you have to often complete you first degree in Biology or Chemistry Major which runs for four years and then you can enroll at a medical school which will last for 5 years. According to S.R. Covey, in his book 'Seven Habits of Highly Effective People', one of the key traits to accomplish any task is to begin with the end in mind and work accordingly to achieve it. Many students inherently practice this from childhood till the actual time of choosing field arrives. Whereas a multitude of disciplines were discussed by my friends as their dreams, mine was just being, irrespective of field, at the top; hence my field was to be the one that I would be best at. As the years passed, I performed consistently well in mathematics and developed a lot of interest in it. But one thing that pinched me the most was 'Why am I doing this? What's the use of trigonometry, vectors, matrices etc?' Gradually, by every passing year, the interdependency of science and mathematics became evident; I discovered the extensive usage of mathematics in physics; the simple usage of dot product and cross product in physics formulae and of elementary row operations on matrices in solving complex electric circuits etc. As a result, the mysteries that I used to mull over started to unfold and the application of what seemed useless in the past became vivid. Gradually I started loving physics in general and electricity and magnetism in particular. Observing the extreme utility of electronics everywhere and seeing it as the widest based and ever growing field, I have chosen electrical engineering as my discipline for undergraduate studies. My deep interest and fascination for this field led me to acquire some basic knowledge about logic circuits and their applications The immense thirst for this field made me deeply sincere towards my academic life which consequently resulted in my worth mentioning success. As for my future, I definitely don't want to limit my education to a mere bachelors; instead I want to continue my education till a doctorate degree and make some valuable and unique contribution to my field. The aims which I have can only be fulfilled in an environment which is friendly; research oriented and is conducive to my aims. All universities in China in particular have a culture with these traits. Having been taught all subjects in English has given me command over the language which will eliminate any chances of communication hurdles. Therefore, China is my prime priority for Undergraduate as well as any higher degree in my course of studies.

Academic Background I have completed my undergraduate studies in Information Technology from “University of Cape Coast”, Cape Coast, Ghana, in June 2015. I was an active somehow indulgent student among others during my undergraduate studies, very often involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities. In fact routinely ranked in the top 25% of my class and consistently one of the top students in each of my individual courses. I did my final year thesis project on “Generic Online Voting System for the University of Cape Community” which is widely use by the University with the group of three members in which I was made the Group Leader. The Generic Online Voting System allows the Faculties, Departments and Associations to have successful election through the system. In these project I learned and research on how to avoid double voting, use pie chart to display individuals final results and also use progress bar to tract every vote cast and how to make an election ongoing, upcoming and passed. While working on this project I found strong motivation in myself towards graduate study and research in the area of election which forms the integral part in our society. At present, I am working as Teaching Assistant at the University of Cape Coast; in which I assist my lecturers in teaching, marking of scripts and even at their absent stands in for them. Aside the project, I was also part of the executives for my department, Computer Science and Information Technology Association which I was the IT development officer when I was undergraduate student. Also because of ardent interest and motivation towards generic online voting system, this project was considered one of the top three projects that was presented by students in my department. Living in a developing country where illiteracy thrives, and poverty prevents the majority from experiencing the beauty of life through learning and exploration, most people are discouraged to pursue education and therefore resort to other maniac means to survive, particularly, when they prejudicially feel government fails to provide them with better lives. In my final thesis during my undergraduate education, I researched into the perceptions that people held and their preferred means of funding of health care and how healthcare providing institutions are funded in Ghana respectively. I was fascinated about the findings of both works. Majority of people in Ghana preferred the National Health Insurance as compared to the ‘cash and carry system’ that existed at the time. Interestingly, the findings from my thesis at the undergraduate level indicated that the main source of funding for healthcare providing institutions was from internally generated funds. In spite of the fact that the health facilities are mainly funded from their internally generated funds, these funds are not forthcoming because the National Health Insurance Authority, the institution mandated to reimburse the health providers has not been up to task. This has affected the delivery of healthcare and ultimately the quality of care. It is to this effect that I resolved to pursue fields that would enable me acquire the knowledge and skills to do a critical evaluation of this phenomenon and to proffer practical solutions. This resolution has been the attributing factor for my strong interests in Masters in Business and Finance at Ningbo University. I was extremely pleased to come across this University with its dedication to both teaching and research missions with the aim to deliver the next generation of future leaders, which fully incorporates all I seek in a master’s program. My research interest towards higher studies on “High Strength Fibre Reinforced Concrete with Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) for Sustainable Civil Engineering Construction Works.” I have selected this topic because concrete is the third largest material consumed by human beings after food and water as per year according to World Health Organization (WHO) and it might be considering the prime material in the construction field. Additionally I will use Fly ash (FA), coconut fiber (CF) and coconut Fiber ash (CFA), metakaolin to strengthen of the concrete. Fly ash (FA), which is a waste product from coal based power plant and progressively this sort of wastes are increasing day by day due to rapid industrialization as well as growth of agricultural sectors to support the demand of the people. To get the benefits in terms of ecological, economical and technical condition in recent time use of this waste product in producing composite materials has been increased. In this research work, an attempt is made to utilize fly ash and metakaolin in concrete as a replacement for binding materials so that effective utilization of waste material is possible and demand of cement can be reduced to some extent. And if the demand of cement is being reduced automatically generation of CO2 will be decreased. On the other hand natural fiber such as coconut fiber (CF) has certain physical and mechanical characteristics which can be utilize effectively to enlarge additional strength to the concrete and also I will use coconut fiber ash that can be produced with the help of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) which is a chemical activator in this research. The reasons of using these wastages are disposing of the coconut fiber in the land will posses’ serious problem for human being as well as the environment. A suitable alternative is needed so that disposal should not be a threat to the environment. In varying percentage of coconut fiber and coconut fiber ash is being used as a maximum replacement of cement as fiber reinforcement and binding materials. And the study on mechanical properties will be made to determine the optimum replacement which improves the strength characteristics of concrete. I choose China to complete my education because China is the place where updated research activities are taking place in various fields of civil and Materials Engineering and other Sciences. After observing an open cardiovascular surgery on television, I was blown away by the professionalism of the surgeons and the procedure itself. I have always been fascinated by the human body and the way each organ functions in order to keep this extraordinary machine working. Witnessing my mother on a hospital bed after having numerous heart attacks which eventually turned into a coronary heart disease in addition to losing my grandfather due to a heart attack and the helplessness I felt in both occasions unimaginably motivated and inspired me to participate in cardiovascular research and become a cardiologist one day. My interest was further developed whilst doing a biomedical science degree where I expanded my understanding of fundamental science, ranging from cells and molecules to human physiology and medical microbiology. Combining this knowledge with the research skills I obtained throughout my Honours year along with challenges that a master’s level research project brings is my biggest goal. My degree has enhanced my understanding of the various aspects of research and medicine. My studies have included problem based learning, facets of ethics in medicine and laboratory methods for disease diagnosis on a range of specimens. Being involved in frequent group work has not only developed my communication skills but also my ability to work as part of a team more successfully. My honour’s project was based on the use of Polymerase and Real-time polymerase chain reaction to investigate and identify the presence of various species within commercially available meat products. It also includes basic bioinformatics, DNA isolation and genetic analysis. I am currently completing my master’s degree in biomedical science, specialising in cardiovascular studies which is an enormous opportunity for me to expand my knowledge and experiences in the medical field. My participation in a work placement at Glasgow’s Townhead Health Centre shadowing a GP for a week gave me the opportunity to interact with patients, get to know more about their symptoms and condition acquire valuable experience observing the doctor’s technique of diagnosis in addition to his interaction and methods of conducting a patient interview and developing a medical history. I also arranged another week placement at Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary Cardiology Department which was an incredible opportunity to observe medicine from a different perspective as well as familiarising myself with the challenges and pressure of working in a hospital environment. I was able to use an ECG and become familiar with abnormal heart rhythms, various ECG patterns and report interpretation methods. Furthermore I learned more about a variety of cardiac diagnostic tests including twenty four hours Holter and blood pressure monitors besides stress tests, pacemaker checks and echocardiograms which enormously developed my awareness of the available techniques and technology that can identify a patient’s heart condition. The caring aspect of medicine encouraged me to start volunteering at a local elderly care home where I worked alongside nurses which vastly improved my caring skills. I was caring for those with Alzheimer’s, diabetes, strokes as well as other conditions by ensuring residents take their medications on time, taking them for walks, serving food, assisting them in their daily activities. Being able to make even small improvements in their quality of life as well as giving a helping hand to those in need was an extremely rewarding experience. Keeping a healthy balance of social and academic life is crucial for me; hence I spend my free time playing guitar, keyboard, and composing hip hop music. I hold a black belt in Kickboxing and participate in daily weight training which builds up my physical strength and mental stamina which is useful when facing medicine’s pressure and challenges. Volunteering once a week at Bridging the Gap community for the past four years has allowed me to become an effective communicator by interacting with people of different background and age groups who are going through educational, immigration and family problems. I have been involved in many voluntary community projects such as creating music and a music video to raise awareness about young carers which got me invited to the Scottish Parliament, being involved in Police Scotland’s “Criminal Mind” album and fundraising at Glasgow’s Hospice. Although becoming a doctor involves a great amount of pressure and is a very demanding and challenging journey, I believe that I possess the motivation, dedication, commitment and empathy to succeed. My experiences have strengthened my aspiration be pursue this career.
