Eligibility

Majors in Chinese Medium:
a. HSK5 for Liberal arts and Management science.
b. HSK4 for Science and engineering.

Majors in English Medium:
a. IELTS: 6.0 or TOFEL: IBT80.

Documents You Need to Provide

1. Scholarship Application Form.

2. Relevant Chinese or English language proficiency test certificate. If choose taught in Chinese need HSK5, if choose taught in English need IELTS: 6.0 or TOFEL: IBT80.

3. Photocopy of valid passport.
With name, passport number & expiration date, and photo included.

4. Passport photo.
A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant.

5. Master degree graduate certificate.
Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.

6. Master degree academic transcript.
Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

7. Physical Examination Form.
Must be filled in English or Chinese.

8. Reference letters.
Applicants must submit two reference letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.

9. A study or research plan.
Written in Chinese or in English (no less than 500 words).

A national evaluation of key discipline carried out in 2012 showed that the Food Science and Engineering and the Light Industrial Technology and Engineering in the School were ranking No.3 and No.1, respectively, among Chinese universities.

1. Objective

Editor Notes: This program is to help students to be well-developed in moral, intellectual and physical aspects.

The program aims to cultivate high­level specialized personnel who are strong in the ideals of patriotism, observance of the law, and discipline;who exhibit moral, intellectual and physical characteristics; who are noble, have a rigorous style of study, strong dedication to career, and a healthy spirit of teamwork. Students are required to demonstrate a solid yet broad understanding of basic theories, combined with a systematically through academic awareness. The abilities necessary to independently undertake scientific research and make creative achievements in scientific and specialized technical fields will be demonstrable.

3. School of Food Science and Engineering

Editor Notes: SCUT is a key comprehensive research-oriented university under Project 985 and Project 211.

The School of Food Science and Engineering (SFSE) is one of the most important units in the University featuring high level innovative scientific research. The School has a national engineering research center (Wheat and Corn Processing Lab), a national innovation and technology platform (Starch and Plant Proteins Research Center) and several provincial/ministry scientific research institutes, such as Guangdong Key Laboratory for Green Processing and Safety of Natural Products, Guangdong Technical Center for Food Processing and Nutrition, Guangdong Lipid Science and Applied Technology Center, Guangdong International Collaborate Center for Sugar Green Processing, Agricultural Products Green Processing Lab and Demonstration Center , etc.

The School persists in the scientific research and technological innovation, as well as the industrialization of new technology. Its researches are funded by National, provincial/ministry foundations and the enterprises, with as much as about 70 million Yuan in 2015. In the past five years, the outstanding research of the school was recognized by various academic honors, such as two Second Class National Awards for Science and Technology Progress, and sixteen different provincial/ministry Prizes.

The School has extensive communication and cooperation with many top-level oversea universities and research institutes such as Cornel University, Queensland University, Rutgers University and Kyoto University. Nearly one hundred scientists, faculties and students were actively involved in the international communication and cooperation through lecture, seminar, conference, or being visiting scholars and exchange students.
