If you want to learn, do not come to this university its a waste of money, because the teachers do not know how to teach in English and most of the classes are studying with the Chinese student and since the Chinese are most, then teachers will often use Mandarin to teach. If you want to get the Bachelor Degree you have to self-learning or you wont be able obtain it.

Also this university only care you money, if you dont pay the tuition in time you will be expelled. and also due the covid there are several international student that cant come back to China for study, they remodelated room of the C15 International Student Dormitory building for the chinese student and the international student that is in outside china are being forced to leave their stuff outside of the dormitory.

also the staff of the administration of SCUT have a lack of respect for international students, and its very rude.

I had a very bad experience in this university. I am leaving the reasons below incase you are considering to apply in Scut:

1) Poor Education Quality: The professors were not qualified to teach in my undergraduate degree. For them teaching the students was a part time job and doing their research work was their full priority. We had the classes with the local students. None of us gained any skills from going to the classes and the teachers could not even speak in English properly. Clearly, scut had professors who lost their passion a long time ago to teach students.

2) Accommodation : The office used to lie about the available rooms they had. I could not get a room in the campus during my stay there though they had empty rooms. I was forced to leave outside and hence detached with the schools facilities like library, canteens and swimming center. Having a room outside was expensive for a student like me who didnt have a side job. Also the south campus of this university only had rooms with 4 beds and 2 bed.

After studying for few years i didnt complete my education here. I came here to get skilled in my field. Unfortunately, i didnt learn anything and started to dislike my major and the professors and the administrative system that i had to abandon my high hopes of having a good experience in China and leave the place.

If anyone is planning to apply to South China University Of Technology you should stop and start to think to apply to other Universities that has a good Accommodation, Quality of teaching and Good administration. the accommodation here is very difficult to get which means there is a large probability of not getting an accommodation even the students that are currently learning in South China university of Technology are being forced to leave their Accommodation and paying for apartments which is 5x the normal dormitory fee. in general the accommodation isnt good and doesnt have a repair.
The next one is the quality of teaching, you will experience a very bad teaching because most of the time you will be learning with Chinese Student so the professors will be forced to speak in their language because most of Chinese students face difficulty understanding English. so in general the Teaching process is really bad for a foreign student who has the Aim and Passion for Learning But they have a nice research Computer labs for a masters degree Students
The last one is the administration, SCUT does not have a good administration for the international students. The Administrators here in South China University of technology have a lack of respect for international students and could not accept any Opinions from the students of South China University of Technology.

To be honest the I didnt expect this kind of shit experience as a student in this university. I am a computer science undergrad and I had high hopes for this university as I was hoping to further enhance my skills in computer science. But for me, having an optimistic nature helped me ignore all the crap and continue my life with the hope that at least Ill have a degree from a reputed university. And about learning the courses in the major, well I have been used to self-studying for my entire life so I thought that wont be a problem. But the moment I decided to get my shit together, it was about time for a deep realization that the shitty curriculum and management wont even let you self-study as they will force you to finish home works and projects that the teachers wont even explain properly. Most of the teachers were not even skilled enough to teach in English and some not even skilled enough to teach (An intelligent person with lots of academic certificates is not necessarily a good teacher). And about my peers, not being arrogant but just stating the fact, they will let any international student get into the university as long as they are able to pay the fees(realized it after several months of classes, some international students were not even able to solve basic high school level problems, if thats not shocking enough some didnt even know what a hypotenuse is). There are lots of other issues with this shithole of a university, what I did is just scratched the surface in this post.

if you are thinking to study chinese here, it just a waste of money.

the dormitory is bad, they dont have a single room even it stated in their website that they have.

bad experience that i had, came here to study chinese they made me pay for the tuition fees first after that i was informed there was no room in dormitory. So i had to find my own room by myself in CHINA!.

They only care about your money and the office staffs are rude!

the school name is big but only for those studying in chinese foreigners are almost on their own as the school only cares if u pay the money on time totally a common bad choice for any one who wants to do some serious study in english and all in all they ONLY care about the money. dont expect any help from administration in case of an issue

Top-Two university in Guangzhou, the third largest city in China. Holds great influence in Guangdong Province and even south china region, especially in Engineering Industries. But the quality of other subjects are not as good as those engineering ones.

The Admin staff for international students is by far the worst I have ever seen. These are uncaring individuals who are only looking to do the least amount of work.You have to keep on bothering them just to get their attention,you forget about them doing their jobs cause they are on QQ the whole day. As a new student in China I faced many challenges with getting around a strange city and received no help or even sympathy from the university. The Staff communicate messages via notice boards but when you follow up on said communication they contradict what was written and do something else.This experience has been very frustrating.
