2. Program Introduction

Editor Notes: Civil Engineering (CE) includes two majors: Construction Engineering and Traffic Civil Engineering.

• In the course of the program, students will study in Ghana for the first two years and in China for another two years.
• ​To cultivate students to have a well-balanced knowledge structure, a solid background in Construction Engineering technology and a motivated desire for innovation. 
• To enable the student to enter the profession, for example, in industry, on a construction project, in a consulting engineering office, through a government agency.
• The major aims to train students with a basic knowledge of management science, a mastery of economics and law.
• Have the professional knowledge associated with civil engineering technology and project management.
• The students will receive basic training for engineers to improve their abilities in the practice and innovation of the engineering industry.
• Students will be trained to cultivate their personal and social skills. 
• Graduates will be qualified to manage whole projects from concept to completion in the field of architecture and civil engineering construction.

6. Department of Civil Engineering

Editor Notes: The school ffers the bachelor of engineering degree in civil engineering and engineering management.

• The civil engineering laboratory of the department is sponsored jointly by Jiangsu province and National Ministry of Education.
• The laboratory is a cultivation site for experimental demonstration centers of civil engineering in Jiangsu province.  
• The annual research funding of the department has reached RMB6,000,000. 
• More than 150 scientific papers have been published on many famous domestic and international journals, and besides, six invention patents have also been authorized or accepted.

7. Civil Engineering Laboratory

Editor Notes: Civil Engineering Laboratory is one of the important experiment bases for teaching and scientific research.

• The lab is able to offer relevant teaching experient for graduate students who major in structural engineering, disaster prevention and protection projects, construction and civil engineering projects.
• The lab has undertaken a series of national, ministerial and provincial level research projects and achieved lots of excellent results. 
• It has the qualifications of outside qualification test about cement, construction steel, sand and gravel general, simple geo, admixtures, fly ash, concrete, mortar and other projects.

Reasearch Interest: Pre-stressed concrete durabilityPre-stressed concrete durability has been researched for nearly 10 years by 1999. Based on the related research results, coupling damage and durability behavior would be researched in two-corrosion environmental interaction (combination of two of carbon, chloride, freezing-thawing, alkali aggregate reaction and fatigue load).
