I lived in China for 4 months previously to be exact in Suzhou, and I fell in love with its culture. I have traveled since I was 6 years old and I always loved learning about the people from different places of the world. I want to study in this University because I know it will help me achieve my dream of becoming a proficient scholar of the world. I was born in Mexico, but my mom is Colombian and since she was the one who raised me I always felt like an immigrant. Then I moved to the USA when I was 16 and learned about the culture of being an immigrant in the USA. I'm interested on professor Huan Jianbo and his perspective of migrants' education and also on professor Nicholas Tapp and his perspective on the minority of immigrants. I know this University offer English classes for my major, and even though I want to learn Chinese while I'm there I would also love to be able to understand everything that is being taught. I know ECNU offers both things. I'm just very excited to learn more about how China sees different cultures and its own Culture as to compared the Westerners see their own culture and Chinese culture.

As a student of economics, history, politics, religion, warfare and business, I have closely analyzed the state of my nation Nepal and I have come to realize that there are significant problems that can and need be rectified in order to improve the welfare of my people. I come from a middle class business family in Nepal and due to my interest in economics I would analyse government policies and systems to see how it would affect the poor, the rich or the middle class and to whom these policies were good for. It is not only Nepal that I analyzed; to be honest I had no interest in Nepal or it’s politics until one very day when I saw the fall of the economy of Nepal coming and not to mention my weak emotional side, my love for the people. I felt the need to warn people, I felt the need to save people and I felt the need to take responsibility for my nation’s survival & everyone living inside of it, for mother Nepal is not mine or anyone’s and it is definitely not the governments nor the kings, it is a nation built by our fathers and mothers after centuries of hard work, it is a nation built for and on freedom and it is a nation built by our own blood to make the lives of every citizen the best we can, & therefore I took an oath that I will stand against any forces that pose a threat to the development and survival of this great nation. We can see through facts that our population has grown from 25.6 Million people in 2002 to 30.5 Million people currently. The unemployment rate for the current times is not published although during 2002 our unemployment rate was 45% where as in 2008 it was 46% unemployment. The increasing population is very dangerous to the survival of our economy and the nation; it is very dangerous to the welfare of our fellow countrymen, unless work and opportunity is created for at least 90% of the population. According to my ideology a person who gets involved in politics is taking a holy oath to take responsibility for every citizen of that nation, be them living, be them yet to be born, therefore no matter the rise in population, a government must always find ways to help it’s people. I believe I have the adequate knowledge in business & economics and a good plan that I have been working on for the last 4 years to better the economy and welfare of the people of Nepal, however I lack the knowledge in politics. I have chosen East China Normal University because I have discovered that your university can provide me with the knowledge and education in politics that will give me a chance to help 30.5 million Nepalese who are in need. My recent studies in Special Educational Needs have made me aware of the need to see the world of education through a different lens. Hence I find myself adopting a more open-minded approach when dealing with students that face everyday challenges that are often complex and need sensitive and compassionate handling. For my placement I chose to spend the time in a primary school. From the perspective of being a secondary teacher I wanted to gain an insight into how children start to learn to gain skills in literacy and numeracy. From an SEN perspective it was fascinating to observe the use of interventions in the school in order to provide support for children with a range of learning difficulties. Another valuable observation was the importance of consistent communication and building strong relationships between all members of a school community and it has shown me the value of providing a firm foundation at the start of a child’s life. It has also shown me that there are no right or wrong answers when it comes to looking at the areas surrounding special education and instead of arguing for one method and not another we should focus more closely at the positive things about learning taking place in school class rooms today.
