I have heard about Beijing Film Academy since 2012 when i was 18 and I have also known about many Important and well known asian filmmaker who have came from Beijing film academy such as Zhang Yi Mou, Chen Kai Ge and many more. Personally i have great interest towards asian cinema and i strongly believe that the culture in Beijing film academy and also how film is being educate in Beijing Film Academy is what suits my voice as a young and aspiring asian filmmaker the most.
Beijing Film Academy ( BFA ) produces many top grade actors (eg: Liu Yi Fei, Huang Xiao Ming etc.. ) I admire the skills and drive they show throughout their career. Hence I am confident that BFA can stretch my potential. I want to take on this new challenge by embarking on this journey with BFA as I believe with my willingness and humility, I can adapt and learn fearlessly in this new environment. I am excited to gain new inspirations and develop my artistry and voice as a performer. Along this journey with BFA, I am confident that I can really grow not just as a budding artiste, but also as a person.
Ever since the very first breath of my life, My father always bring our family out to watch a movie every sunday until now. In fact, watching movies becomes a huge part in our life, it is our family tradition. Watching a movie sparks a lot of topics in our family conversations, discussing the story, how we feel about the story, what we would’ve done if we were the character, and what other solutions the character should’ve gone for. Another tradition that we have is to jokingly act out as the character, I remember one time after we watch the Last Samurai, me and my brother used to fight using our bolsters as if it was a samurai sword and we had a great burst of tears laughing to it. Growing up to this made me realize a deeper understanding about the power of Filmmaking. As an undergraduate student of Communication studies and coming from my own personal experience, I believe that Filmmaking in comparison to other art forms, has the best ability to convey a message with greatest impact to their consumers. I mean, how many times have we cried out of sadness, joy, and anger after watching a movie. And some great movies have a longer effect of this mixed emotions, movies that can make you think about for days. Usually these types of movies can open up our perspectives and deepen our views of life, on Earth or even outside Earth, which is crazy! That is why I want to master Filmmaking so badly. There are many reason why I choose Beijing Film Academy. First reason is because I believe in the programs that emphasizes practical study just as important as theoretical study. Second reason is because I love China, and it’s my dream to be able to experience living and working there! Moreover, there’s even a dedicated course to be a volunteer of community work which I am excited to be a part of. And lastly, I want to get to know ambitious filmmakers all around the world with different cultural backgrounds. I want to have a deeper understanding of what the film philosophy is like in their culture. I believe it can widen my perspective on filmmaking and make me a better storyteller. I believe that Filmmaking is more than a passion, it is my calling. To spread positive message to other human beings, our humanity values, restoring our sympathy and equality towards one another and even with other living things. Through entertaining audio visuals which the audience will accept more effectively. Filmmaking is something that I want to pursue. It becomes my prime motivation to wake up the next day, to chase this fiery ambition.
1) The excellent reputation of the Beijing Film Academy attracts highly qualified teachers. Learning from them will enable me to improve my Chinese rapidly and to truely immerse into the Chinese culture. 2) My research about various successful film directors, actors and screenplay writers has shown that many of them have received their training at the BFA. Enrolling at the BFA will enable me to collaborate with bride minds and will allow me to learn from them. In return, I am happy to teach the BFA students about European culture. 3) Reading many novels about Chinese history and language, I would appreciate the chance to live in Beijing, which an interesting place to learn more about ancient Chinese culture. 4)
I believe the BFA has a high quality education system and research facilities, which can provide me with the best studying experience in Film. Furthermore, the film industry in China is booming, and studying in BFA would also expose me to more information and opportunities in the industry. It would also allow me to gain more life experiences living overseas, which I believe, can help me grow as a person.
Beijing Film Academy is one of the most well known universities for film in the world. I am interested in learning more and contributing to the film industry in China.
My main interest lies in filmmaking and in order to pursue it as a career in the future, this university offers a valuable degree that would not only aid me in the future, but teach me aspects and skills that I did not learn in my two years of HL Film at SOTA.

I have spent most of my life in Kenya. I have actually spent all my life in Kenya. However, I have had the desire to experience other cultures since high school. This informs my decision to choose to study abroad, because what better way to see and interact with different cultures than school - a internationally acclaimed school with rich history and reputation? Beijing Film Academy has a wide range of choices in my favorite field, film. What's better is it is ranked among the best film schools in the world, for good reason.
The reasons why I have chosen this university is for many reasons. The reputation is excellent which I feel will help improve and expand my knowledge about the film industry. This is also to my knowledge the only university in Asia which focuses on film/ tv production which will then bring people together with familiar interests, allowing me to make friends with people who have the same things in common. I also love how it is based in Beijing the capital of China, which will not only allow me to learn more about my roots but also the history and experience things that I am not able to do so here in Northern Ireland. I have chosen this university is because of the huge success that this university has produced, people such as Zheng Shuang, Chen Kun and the producer Yu Dong. All which is very inspirational. Looking on the website, I have found that the facilities are very good, with a library which allows a place to study to a court yard to exercise and allow some stress to release to youth studios which has won many awards.

Ever since the age of 9 my siblings and I started to travel around Asia. I was lucky enough to be able to explore countries like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Myanmar, Thailand, and Hong Kong. Therefore Asia has always been a very dominant part of my life and culture, as though China remains a country i have not had the occasion to visit, but I do believe China is in a near future for me. A major factor is also the fact that my sister lives in Honk Kong, and my brother will be moving to China, which is even the more reasons to endeavor as to achieve my goal of attending your University. Apart from that, i grew up in Los Angeles where i started making short videos with my friend where we would see how far we could play with the effects of the editing software. It became something we would do every weekend, then on a daily basis, but for me it was a hobby, something i did for fun. As i grew older i realized that if i want to be good at something i have to like it, if i can find what i love doing for work I will never have to work a day of my life. And i just turned my cheek to the one thing i have always been infatuated by, which is becoming a pro at my art. So the day my sister showed me Beijing Film Academy I saw the perfect opportunity to manifest something of my own in a more than suiting environment where i do believe i can not only strive for excellence but achieve it. The Academy has been able to shape Chinese cinema, and it's elitism has reached my ears 6,000 miles away, the reasons for me to join this school are numerous, but the main one is that the Academy can make my future worth living for.
I am now 62 years old and find few institutions that want to accept a teacher or a student at my age. I want to improve my Chinese language competence beyond intermediate. For much of the last 20 years and before the last 5 years in China, I was an artist or would-be artist in Seattle. I worked at most of the International film festivals, for example, saw many films, and wrote short reviews on my own website. I did misc. crew on small and larger scale film and video productions, including one SIFF production. I took playwriting classes and directed and acted in the Seattle theater fringe. I have also been trained in TV production at a PBS station while at Bradley U. So I have always been interested in film and also educational video. But at present in China I need most the language skill... pk
From Beijing Film Academy I expect to get high quality knowledge from high quality professors, and I'm sure there I can have it. I want to become a well trained, experienced expert, who can stay calm in unexpected situations, as she has the principles on which she can rely. I want to be qualified to direct my films, but I'm determined to get to know to screenwriting as well, as I'd like to be able to write my own scripts. I chose Beijing Film Academy from all film directing teaching universities, because I read a lot of compliments on its quality, reviews and articles on international sites and also read the blog of a former international student. At Beijing Film Academy one can build relations with people from all fields of film which is a very useful thing for a team worker. Studying in China gives me the opportunity to combine the East with the West, to understand, experience both, and benefit from them. I believe a film maker must explore the world, cultures for herself and collect as much knowledge as possible. Without knowledge no thoughts can be produced, and without thoughts art has no value.
Beijing Film Academy is world class and located in the capital of China. The movie industry in China is booming. International projects, productions and festivals are numerous. It will be very informative to further study Chinese language and Culture @ BFA and further discover the rich history of movie making at the Beijing Film Academy. Movies are produced to entertain, stimulate and educate.
Since my young age i had great interest in 'Performing Arts' and 'Art and Design' therefore i always wished to join a good institute and learn something out of it. As this university is the best film university in Asia hence i would like to give it a try to apply in it.
I have looked up many universities in Beijing and elsewhere in China, and believe that Beijing Film Academy will provide the best learning environment for me. I am very interested in film and television and think it will be very valuable to learn with the help of Chinese language films as part of the curriculum. I have read several glowing reviews of the Chinese language course at BFA and think that the style of teaching, combined with the small class sizes, will provide a great learning environment for me. (I have studied previously at BLCU and found that the class sizes were very big). I am also excited about the idea of participating in campus life at this university. As the largest film school in Asia, and the most popular film school in the country, I believe that the campus will be an interested and engaging place at which to study.
