In my Junior year of high school, I studied Anatomy and Physiology, the subject that revealed to me how much I want to study medicine. In that year-long course, I learned about the several organ systems in a very specific, detailed manner, and then implemented the knowledge I acquired into solving real-life clinical questions- my favorite part. The course was not a particularly easy one, but I enjoyed every bit of it. Till this day I am still intrigued to know how one disease in a system can cause symptoms to appear in several others; in other words, everything is interconnected. Once you are able to make sense of it, you get that indescribable sense of enlightenment. I was doing the medical course at Faculty of Medical Science at University National Timor Lorosa’e. Which is of 6 year’s duration including 1 year of compulsory Spanish course graduated students from Facultad, University National of Timor Lorosa’e.I have completed undergraduate studies in Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBs) from University National Timor Lorosa’e, in 19th November 2011, with 3,98. I was an active somehow indulgent student. Among others during my undergraduate studies, very often involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities, in fact, I was up to the mark and honored in the top 20’s. Work Background After graduation I started my job as General Practitioner Medical in district at Clinic Health Center Cailaco, Bobonaro Province 2012. I had been there for 1 year and 8 months, not only attended patients in the clinic but also with the team workers we attend the patients in the rural areas through SISCA Integrated Health Services (standing for "Integrated Community Health Services"). The program is a key initiative of the Ministry of Health (MOH) to extend the reach of basic primary health care services to community and household level. In the Clinic Health Center (CHC) Cailaco Village, Bobonaro province. In There also I had seen unwell patient, many of them children, suffering from malnutrition, pneumonia, TB, malaria, dengue. And also cases of adults like hepatitis, malaria, surgical problems like hernias, appendicitis, peritonitis, bowel obstruction and advanced malignancies, such as breast cancer. Unfortunately at CHC just attend the primary health care, and the advance cases need Hospital reefer. I had working there for 1 years 8 months. In 2013, I was received transference letter from Ministry of Health, to contribute at Referral Hospital Maliana. For 1 years I was in Emergency department, doing on call, dressing patients in the Emergency ward and sometimes I also help the doctor in the Male and Female surgery ward, also assist many operations in General Surgery like, Appendectomy, Laparotomy, Skin Graft, Excision Lymphoma and Wound Repair. In Urology I was participate in Cistolitotomy, Circumcision, Prostatectomy, BPH, Nephrectomy and put catheter. And Orthopedic and traumatology cases like External Fixation, ORIF (Open Reduction Internal Fixation), Close Redaction and wound debridement. February 2014, I had received another letter from Ministry of Health to support at Public Health Direction specifically in Communicable Disease Contagious (CDC) Department, TB Program as Medical Officer of MDR-TB/TB-HIV/AIDS, and I am still doing my job there. In the morning I attend all patient with TB and HIV/AIDS at National Guido Valadares Hospital in the afternoon I attend MDR-TB patient at MDR-TB Center Klibur Domin Liquica until now. . The AIDS hospice reeked from disease and neglect. And is what I had to deal with when my two parents and younger siblings all succumbed and later died when I was a young boy of nine years. Each time I visited the institution, I was met by emaciated AIDS victim who were recovering at various stages of end of their lives. I watched desperately as day after day, the “in-mates” gave up home and died…oh how I hated the morticians who always collected their bodies with a vengeance! This was because the reality of my only know family members having to one day go through this process started to dawn on me when my own father suffered from a stroke that had severely affected his speech. Friends and church members arranged to have him transported to the General Hospital for a long-overdue appointment. It had been weeks since he had been outside. After waiting for two and a half hours, he was called in and then needed to wait another two hours for his prescription. Hungry, my father though by then very frail requested that I fetch him something to “keep his stomach warm”. Even though I knew my father had lost his ability to chew due to a sloppy jaw, I went out and brought him “githeri” a traditional dish that I knew he liked. When it arrived, dad took his first bite. Suddenly, his face lit up with the biggest, most radiant smile. He was on top of the world because somebody bought him what he adored. Unfortunately, the elation did not last long and he suddenly started to gasp. By then, we were still on the doctor’s office queue. By the time we realized that dad was choking from a bolus of unchewed food, his already anemic skin was already turning blue. The doctor subsequently dashed out of his office to try to help only to declared dad dead in just a few moments. This was the lost memory I had of him and the rest of the family as I vowed never to return to the hospital neither the hospice. What had so upset me about my day with dad? Before then nothing in my personal experiences had ever stirred my young intellect like that. I kept feeling guilty that I had killed my father with an offer of a favorite meal, then when I recalled that he was already terminally ill and too weak to chew, I projected my pain and anguish to the health workers as I thought that a lot of what transpired was because there was no professional person to immediately attend to dad. I made a single-minded commitment to medicine a mist a myriad of financial difficulty that had made me have to skip both elementary and secondary school for years until I found a merciful sponsor to support me through high school. However tough the financial distress has been, nothing has deterred me from the resolve; all I want is to be a doctor. At first I had to struggle to get myself to like science. Being the first person to go to high school in my family, I did not have a role model and thought that sciences and mathematics were too difficult for a poor kid. However, when I met Mr. Mapesa my high school principal, he identified the passion in me and help me to focus. I started to enjoy science. From general biology to advanced cellular/behavioral, the study of the biological systems, especially the most complex of them all, the human body, has been a delightful journey with new discoveries in each new class. The compassion I have for poor patients has given me an insatiable appetite to study medicine. Unlike many other schools, Chongqing Medical University openly encourages such breadth of study, believing the skill sets developed through different subjects to be universally interdependent and pragmatic in the real world. My name is Dinielle White. I am a student at St. George's University in Grenada completing a bachelor's degree in Biology and planning on persuing a masters degree at a university. My academic interest is having medical career as a doctor. On the other hand, my career vision is to one day be able to provide affordable health care to marginalized communities in my birth country and country of citizenship. I decided that I will attain a career as a doctor since my passion has always been assisting others and trying to improve their quality of life. After becoming a certified doctor, I want to specialize in oncology, the study of cancer, and add my knowledge to the cancer research field. Furthermore, I want to contribute back to undeserved populations in my home countries that struggle every day to sustain a family, and who do not have as much access to medical assistance as other privileged groups. The first health project I want to accomplish throughout my career as a doctor is to establish a free clinic where affordable medical assistance can be provided regardless of the patient's immigration status. The diverse health services would include free doctor consultations, low-price or free medication, and nutritional classes to prevent the presence of diabetes or heart disease. I also intend to provide an interpreter for patients in case they do not speak English and establish a financial assistance program to help patients who are not able to pay for any type of surgery that needs to be performed. The second biggest career goal that I want to accomplish is to establish a non-profit organization where I can create internships for medical school students in these two countries firstly, and allow them to travel to isolated communities around the world to provide free medical services. I also want to provide nutrition education to support these marginalized communities, especially indigenous groups from Latin American countries in my birth country (Trinidad). This will help contribute to the physical development of kids and offer a solution to malnutrition. I know that all of my goals will remain dreams if I do not complete my medical degree. After researching I found that Chongching Medical University is one of the best medical universities in China. I also admired its beauty from the pictures I saw of the university. I learnt that they produce the best medical doctor due to the quality education offered. it will be a great honour to pursue my childhood dream at this wonderful place.

One of the main reasons for choosing this university is the high ranking among chinese universities for postgraduate programs in the field of medicine. Chongqing Medical University is one of the top independent medical universities in China. It offers English taught courses which makes it easier to interact with the teaching staff. The courses taught are recognised by ECFMG which is an advantage in the event of subspecialisation in the United States. the tuition fees and living costs are lower compared to other universities i have viewed. Furthermore, the labs and dormitories are spacious and well equipped. Lastly, the university has a large group of international students which is ideal for learning different cultures.

CHONGQING MEDICAL UNIVERSITY Well it all started because my brother went on a student exchange to China, although he predominately stayed in Shanghai, he made frequent trips to the lovely city of Chongqing. There he met a few medical students of Canadian back round and discussed with them the prospects of studying medicine in this study. The two Canadian Medical students spoke to highly of this medical school and it's location so when my brother returned he said to me... "Belinda, do not apply for medicine in Australia, trust me you must study medicine in Chongqing". Although at first it was a complete shock to me, I do take into close consideration what my brother proposes for me as he always has my best interest at stake. So from then I began looking into studying at Chongqing medical University. Firstly, my research included the City Chongqing itself. I wanted to know whether or not this city if for me before even considering what the medicine school is like. During my investigation I came to realize the beauty of Chongqing. The main thing that caught my interest is Chongqing's successful economic and industrial advancement while still being able to maintain its natural environment as I am very appreciative of my natural surroundings, yet not wanting to be in an under developed area. Chongqing is a City that has been able to preserve its natural environment is a modern port city on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Because I am foreign, I was interested in studying abroad as long as the city was modern yet still culturally diverse and fulfilling. My brother suggested for me to study Medicine in Shanghai also, however, I wish to not study there as I am uninterested in studying in such a city, with very little cultural dependence. Hence, Chongqing known as the "Mountain City" was the only City which made me feel that "YES I WANT TO STUDY HERE!". I have never been to Chongqing but hours of research on this city alone has made me fall in love with its wavy terrain and water reserves, mineral resources, dense forests, and abundant flora and fauna. Additionally, I am a big fan of Hot Pot's and I here that Chongqing's hosts the best Hot Pot's in all of China. So after I established that Chongqing is a city in which I would be more than happy to spend 6 years of my life there, my next step was to look into Chongqing's medical university. The university is directly affiliated with four Upper Firstly Class hospitals, so further practical practice and work prospects in Chongqing is highly adequate. Furthermore, the variety of the universities key disciplines, that being Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics, Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis, Neurology and as well as 29 other optional key disciplines, provides a large pool of subjects to gain knowledge hence, the students have the opportunity to gain knowledge in areas that would be of interest to all the students. Additionally the university states to have “unique advantages” in the following fields such as talents cultivation, subject building and foreign students work. Talent cultivation really drew my attention, that the university will nurture the individuals’ talent and provides the right environment for this talent to excel. Additionally, the university has international ties with the medical universities, which are judged by Ministry of Education to be qualified to enroll foreign students to learn medicine in English. It is also listed among the Chinese medical universities in WHO's official website and is recognized by ECFMG (Educational Committee for Foreign Medical Graduates) in the United States. Furthermore, studying Medicine in the University Of Chongqing will also shed light on the Chinese Medicine practices in which I have always been interested in. Rather than only studying western medicine. Finally, the compulsory Chinese language classes, that being mandarin I would assume is a huge bonus for me, as at the end of the 6 years not only would I be credited with the title of a Doctor, I would also be nearly fluent in Mandarin. So after reading about the actual medical university itself and the city which it is located in, that being Chongqing, I asked myself one question “Why would you not want to study here?” to which I had no answer in regards to rejecting this idea of studying in Chongqing’s Medical university. The MBBS is not just recognized but is considered of high value international, the city seems beautiful, the international students from all over the world would have so much experiences to share with me, so much new knowledge could be learned while all at the same time being able to begin my journey of becoming a Doctor and helping people in need and being able to actually be the source of help instead of watching from the side lines. Hence, I have decided to apply and hope to gain acceptance into this course that your University offers.
