I'm an American student who studied at this school for almost one year, and I learned more Chinese than expected. The staff was very nice and friendly, but also strict (they want you to learn, they have to make sure your experience will be good). I opted to live off campus so I could have more privacy, and the school made me sign a waiver. However, the teacher often called me to make sure I was safe, and came over to visit at my apartment to make sure my living conditions were suitable (the campus apartments were better than mine). The school genuinely cares about you. Changsha is a pretty safe city overall. There's lots of things to do, and lots of delicious Chinese food. This school is highly recommended by me, to anyone who wants to experience Chinese language and culture, and, of course, the amazing food.

This university is situated in a very up and coming city, making it a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The locals are friendly and welcoming. Cost of living is extremely affordable, and the students are generally happy. There are a few issues, such as the lecturers english not being 100% and the sometimes shabby dorm rooms. These issues are currently being looked at and should be solved in the near future. Other than that, a great life and learning experience!
