Hei Da was the first university I ever studied at in China, so it is hard to me to compare it to other universities. However, I have lived in other cities in China and I can say that the quality of Chinese spoken and taught by the teachers at Hei Da is very good. The teachers and professors at Hei Da all have very standard Chinese and clear pronunciation, enriching the learning experience. There are several elective courses offered at each proficiency level and a few off-campus activities during the school year. Class sizes can be large (20-25) so it is important to supplement leaning in the classroom with your own study (tutors, Chinese friends, etc) as well. On the whole I would recommend Hei Da to anyone hoping to learn standard Chinese in the city of ice and snow :-).
