Program Highlights

Program Description

Research Fields

1. Performing fundamental and applied research & development on problems related to surfaces, interfaces, micro/nano systems, solid-state devices, thin
film materials and sensor technology; Offering introductory and advanced courses on the related topics;Organizing internal and external seminar programs, workshops and topical conferences;Transferring basic and applied research developments to the industrial sector and participate in joint university-industrial funded research projects;
2. Spectroscopy, colloids and interface chemistry;Electrochemical interface including different types of cells
3. Computational chemistry and materials simulations
4. Developing efficient and persistent organic solid-state luminophores;Investigating the electronic excited-state dynamics of organic optoelectronic
materials
5. Our group nurtures students specialized in the fields of analytical chemistry, biotechnology and bio-nano convergence with 2 teams of diverse research
interests.Team 1 focuses on development of analysis-related techniques and devices. The major interests are: 1) Fabrication of chem/bio-sensors and their
application in biomedicine, environmental monitoring, food and drug security, etc. 2) Nanomaterials and their application in electrochemical catalysis and
sensing. Team 2 is targeted on nanoscience-driven sensing and imaging which focuses on nanoplasmonics and optics for precision biomedicine and bioengineering. Team 3 pursues fundamental improvement of nanomaterial/ nanochip design and synthesis by exploiting the diverse functions of cells (e.g.
microalgae) and biomolecules. All the teams provide an insight into the latest advances in the emerging sciences of chemistry, biology and nanomedicine. We
welcome students whose educational backgrounds of chemistry, materials, biology, pharmacy, medicine etc.
6. Research on new reagents, reactions, and mechanism based on the redox strategy
7. Research on asymmetric catalysis and synthesis based on skeletally-diverse, privileged chiral scaffolds
8. Flexible materials and devices
9. MA's group has been listed in the HIT Plan of World's Top Universities Partnership Project, under stable funds and the deep collaboration with Korea
Univ., Seoul National Univ. and Peking University Shenzhen Hospital. The group is very international, and focusing on nano-bio convergence with two teams of
diverse research interests.Team 1 is targeted on nanoscience-driven sensing and imaging which focuses on nanoplasmonics and optics for precision
biomedicine and bioengineering.Team 2 pursues fundamental improvement of nanomaterial/nanochip design and synthesis by exploiting the diverse great
functions of biomolecules and cells. Both provide an insight into the latest advances in the emerging sciences of nanomaterials and biomedicine. We
welcome all students and partners in the related fields of chemistry, biology, optics, materials, medicine, microfluidics etc.
