Program Description

Brief Introduction

Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Automation combines a broad-based education in the engineering sciences with a strong grounding in quantitative, problem-solving, design, and communications skills. The undergraduate program combines mechanical engineering with computer technology, automation, sensing test and other technologies to cultivate students with basic knowledge of mechanical engineering, marketing, economy, and industrial management. By emphasizing both analytical and creative methods, we give students the broad skills set they need to pursue their goals - whether that means working as an engineer, founding a company, or continuing on to graduate study and research.

Course Requirements

The Major Program is designed to provide a broad background in the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering as well as to offer an introduction to the many professional and technical areas with which mechanical engineers are concerned. The program covers the major stream of mechanical engineering. Students in this specialty will have intensive English communication skills training and learn basic theory of mechanical design and manufacturing, computer technology and information technology. They will receive basic training as mechanical engineers, with basic ability of mechanical product design, manufacturing and equipment control, production management. The totally credits during eight semesters are 145, in which the required and the electives are 124 and 21, respectively.

Paper Requirements

According to the requirement of this major curriculum, in the last semester the students will complete capstone design, which is 3.0 credits. The main section of this final design is thesis with some details about words, format, content, conference, etc. Besides the thesis, the presentation of capstone design also must be given by students.
