Program Description

1. Training Objective

Editor Notes: The purpose of this program is developing students to be senior officer or manager who have the abilities of distinguished comprehensive analysis, organizing, coordinating, communicating skills, management decision-making ane so on.

Master of Business Administration (international program) of Southwest University of Science and Technology, aims to cultivate overseas students to be familiar with the general laws of the market operation and China's special situations, with a solid knowledge base, broad international perspective, positive innovation spirit, good professional ethics, and to become officers or managers with comprehensive analysis ability, organizing ability, coordinating and communicating skills, management decision-making ability.

Specific goals are as follows:

1. Peace-loving and law-abiding global citizens who are willing to work on the progress of human civilization, especially business civilization.

2. With excellent professional ethics and social responsibility; with the ability to communicate and cooperate and the ability to organize and coordinate; with critical thinking and the spirit to innovate;

3. Mastering basic economic theory, modern managing theory, and other theories about economics and management; knowing about local places and with international view about economics and management subjects; with the ability to analysis quantitatively by using data and the ability to solve the problem occurred during the running of corporations;

4. Mastering the language of Chinese, especially business Chinese.

2. Research Specifications

Editor Notes: This program has 4 research directions, students can choose one to study on their own interest.

The program provides for four specifications namely: Technology Innovation and Innovation Management, Marketing, Capital Operating and Supply Chain Logistics Management. Students can choose any of them according to their character and interest.

3. Credits Requirements and Curriculum

Editor Notes: Students are required to complete at least 45 credits and pass thesis defense before graduation.

The Program lives up to the credit system. The students must choose courses to study according to training program and take exams, only by passing the exams can the student get the credits. Only by getting enough credits (no less than 45 credits) would the students write theses or report and only by passing thesis defense can the students apply for Business Administration master's degree.

The program includes three catalogs, which are degree courses, elective courses and compulsory courses. Degree courses include public courses and major core courses; Compulsory courses  include entrance education, professional lecture, corporate research, career education and opening speech. You can find the specific courses in the Attached List.

4. Theses

Editor Notes: Degree theses is a major part in the MBA program. The writing and the defense of the thesis are implemented according to Administrative Regulations of the PRC's Degree, the requirements from Steering Committee of the National MBA Education and degree work rules for the implementation of SWUST.

Thesis guidance

To guarantee the quality of the master's degree, the program composes the supervisors groups to guide the students.
The choosing of supervisors is a two-way process between the students and supervisors and at the same time MBA center will offer some help.
The students can also choose those experienced experts and entrepreneurs hired by the university as supervisors.
To guarantee the quality of master's degree, in principle every superior would not guide more than two MBA students at the same time.

Literature Reading

Every MBA student must read no less than twenty pieces of literature on the subject the students choose and among which two pieces of literature are written in foreign languages and the student have to write a proposal.

Literature Writing

Under the guidance of the supervisors, the students must start writing the theses by the end of the third semester. The contents of the theses can be monographic study, research reports or cases study of high quality and something alike. The research time for the thesis must last longer than one year and the words must be more than 30,000. Besides the requirements from the university, the master's degree theses must be with clear concepts, correct arguments, exact description, correct calculation, reliable date, brief words and clear charts.

Thesis Evaluation

Before the defense, the theses must be read and evaluated by two supervisors, one of whom must be an expert or entrepreneur with high professional title working in enterprises.

Thesis Defense

The MBA theses defense committee consists of five judges, among whom at least one or two must be an expert or entrepreneur with high professional title working in enterprises.
