1. Educational Objectives and Basic Standards
Educational Objectives
The world of science and technology in the new millennium is facing growing challenges in the areas of Information Technology, Energy and Environmental Sciences. In all these endeavors, materials issues are ubiquitous and the understanding of the underpinning physics and scientific principles is essential.
The goal of this program is to train the graduates to master the basic theory, basic knowledge of material physics, and basic skills of modern material sciences and engineering and have knowledge about the latest development of this discipline. Through the training, the students have the ability to undertake application research, technology development and production management in material sciences and engineering and be capable of continuing education and entrepreneurial activity in the related area.
Basic Standards
1. To master the basic theory and knowledge of Math, Physics and Chemistry.
2. To master the basic knowledge, basic theory and basic experimental skills in material production, structure, material property characterization.
3. To master the basic knowledge, basic theory and basic experimental methods and skills of semi- conductive materials and magnetic materials.
4. To know general principle and knowledge of close disciplines.
5. To know the knowledge about the latest development, the theory frontier trends, application prospect and the status of industrial development of this discipline.

The world of science and technology in the new millennium is facing growing challenges in the areas of Information Technology, Energy and Environmental Sciences. In all these endeavors, materials issues are ubiquitous. One of the prevailing objectives of industry, whether high-tech or conventional, is the production of higher quality products at a more competitive cost. The wise choice of materials and processing routes is among the major factors contributing to product quality and cost reduction. Graduates with a materials related degree will be adequately prepared to pursue a wide range of careers in industry and business sectors. Some Examples are:
