Action Learning (SAIF LIVE and MIT China Lab)
Action learning is a compulsory course at SAIF MF, its objective is to apply the cutting-edge financial knowledge learned at classroom into the actual business case operation and solution to actual problems faced by enterprises. Each project is directly supervised by the senior management personnel of the enterprise and completed by students with the guidance of professors of SAIF. In such process, the students not only have a chance to know the operation of large enterprise deeply, but also can build the contact with the industrial elite before working formally.

Extended Learning and Student Activities (ELSA)
ELSA is committed to creating an exceptional living and learning environment for students and the greater SAIF community. We are dedicated to enhancing the growth of students to reach their full potential by providing rich learning opportunities through our programs, services, and facilities.

In ELSA, the regular series are:
1. Financial Database Exploration Series

    Students will master advanced quantitative and empirical methods and develop a fluency in financial data sources and analysis tools.
    Students will demonstrate mastery of financial tools and apply them appropriately and innovatively to both identifying and solving business problems.
    Improve the competitiveness and future prospects for of MF students in the job market.

2. Professionalism Development Series
Augment the MF study by informing on various forms of business etiquette: dining, interpersonal communication, business social etiquette, meeting etiquette and so on. It is specifically designed to help students polish their social skills and improve their professional image.
 
3. Coffee Hour
SAIF MF highly encourages and facilitates student-faculty interaction. All professors are very welcoming to student visits and appointments outside of office hours and the MF program also organizes a monthly coffee hour with different professors to create a more interactive and casual environment.
 
4. Social Responsibility Series

SAIF provides every student exclusive access to world class facilities and cutting-edge hardware. Our financial trading lab, which was established in 2010, rivals those of other top business schools in the world. It is equipped with 40 trading terminals displaying real-time data from New York, London, Chicago, Shanghai and other major financial markets around the world with universally used trading systems, including Wind/Bloomberg/Factset/FTS, and can provide access for 80 people.

Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) was established within Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) in April 2009, with strategic and financial support from the Shanghai Municipal Government. SAIF is AACSB accredited and is recognized internationally as one of the top business schools in the world.

The Master of Finance (MF) program has been the flagship program at SAIF since its inception in the Autumn of 2009. SAIF's MF program was ranked No.1 in Asia and No.10 globally by the Financial Times in 2018. By 2020, SAIF MF ranked No.1 in Asia for the third consecutive time in the FT Master of Finance Ranking. Currently, SAIF MF stands as one of the most prestigious finance programs in Asia.

The SAIF MF Program recruits world-class faculty from leading business schools around the world. Aimed at fostering the next-generation of talents, the MF-FinTech Program presents a curriculum focusing on three domains: Finance, Statistics & Machine Learning, and Computer Skills & Applications.

Since SAIF MF program focuses on pre-experience students, our goal is to help students enter the entry-level position of top firms in each field. We have enjoyed considerable success in this regard.

The sub-industry breakdown indicates that asset management, investment banking/securities/financial advisory, consulting (management/financial service) and commercial banking/policy bank are the most popular fields among MF graduates in 2019. In regards to the location, a majority of graduates' work in Shanghai as most hedge funds, prime brokers and domestic investment banks are based in Shanghai, and our geographical advantage allowed students to have access both in advisory and internship through the duration of the program. Another 4% graduates work in North America and Europe.

SAIF earned the international accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) on February 28, 2016. SAIF is among the youngest AACSB-accredited business schools in the world. In 2021, AACSB extended SAIF’s accreditation for an additional five years.
