1. COURSE AND CREDIT 
1) CSISS provides courses and lectures on the introduction of China Studies from a variety of perspectives, such as political, economic, legal, societal, cultural aspects etc. All courses and lectures will be taught in English. 
2) Participants are encouraged to explore further on any topic, and share their views and opinions with the lecturing professors and classmates. 
3) Participants are required to attend the courses and lectures, and the program will confer academic credits after they pass the final examinations. 
4) Students who wish to transfer program credits are advised to consult with appropriate academic officials at their home institution before the program begins.

2. FEES AND PAYMENT 
1) Program fees are structured as follows: 
Registration fee 400 RMB (Appx. USD 65)
Tuition fee 4,000 RMB (Appx. USD 650) 
Accommodation 700 RMB (Appx. USD 110) 
2) SDU Center of China Studies currently offers Mingde Scholarship to the participants from Shandong University’s partner institutions and thus they will be exempted from such payment. 
3) Students will be responsible for any additional costs of the program, including insurance, travel, visa fees and their own daily living expenses (food, commuting, etc.).
Average daily expenses are estimated to be 50-100 RMB. 
4) All participants MUST purchase travel insurance before traveling to China. The insurance must include medical insurance and personal accident insurance.
5) All participants will be responsible for medical expenses incurred during their stay in China. Any participants who wish to stay in China before or after the program are responsible for associated expenses and personal safety. 
6) The cost for the optional tours to other cities is NOT included in the program fees. Participants will submit their preferences of optional tours upon registration and make payments on site accordingly. 

3. ACCOMMODATION 
1) On-campus accommodations will be arranged two weeks before the registration. Double room or Quadruple room with a private bathroom will be provided to the CSISS international students.
2) Participants who do not use, and arrive independent of, the airport pick-up service may check in at “YUEHAI JU(阅海居)” on SDU Qingdao campus. Our staff will welcome you in the lobby.

4. PICK-UP SERVICE 
Free pick-up service at Qingdao Jiaodong Airport (青岛胶东机场) and Qingdao NorthRailway Station (青岛北站) will be provided. Detailed arrangement will be announced after the participants’ itinerary information has been collected. 
1) Qingdao Jiaodong Airport: Staff holding a “Shandong University” board will meet you at the arrival gates. 
2) Qingdao North Railway Station: Staff holding a “Shandong University” board will meet you at the exit of the Qingdao North Railway Station. 
3) You may also use public transport or take a taxi to get to the campus. Public transport to SDU Qingdao campus:
To use public transport to reach Shandong University Qingdao Campus, please use a map service such as Google Map, Baidu Map (in Chinese) or Amap (in Chinese). 
You can also take a taxi to SDU at your own expense. To take a taxi, you can show the attached card to the taxi driver, he/she will know to whom to contact and how to get to SDU. It will cost you around 180-210 RMB from Qingdao Jiaodong Airport or 80-100 RMB from Qingdao North Railway Station to Qingdao Campus, depending on the traffic. 

OPTIONAL TOURS 
To help participants better experience Chinese cities and culture, optional tour to Qufu, and extended optional tour to Beijing will be arranged. 
1) At least 10 candidates are required for each field trip, otherwise it will be cancelled. 
2) Optional tours are NOT included in the Program fees. Participants should submit their preferences of optional tours upon registration and make payments on site accordingly. 
3) Optional tour to Qufu
Date July 11 - 12
Total cost 800 RMB per person (This is an approximate price, and the final price will be determined by the travel agency according to the number of participants etc..), which include the high-speed railway tickets between Qufu and Qingdao, travel agency service, lunch, entrance tickets, and one-night accommodation in Qufu city. Note Dinner and other personal expenses are not included.
4) Extended optional tour to Beijing
Summer school officially ends at the end of the graduation ceremony. Participants may either leave Qingdao after that or choose to participate the extended optional tour to Beijing and leave China after the extended tour. 
Date July 16 - 17
Total cost 1000 RMB per person (This is an approximate price, and the final price will be determined by the travel agency according to the number of participants etc..), which include the high-speed railway ticket from Qingdao to Beijing, travel agency service, lunch and 
dinner, entrance tickets, and one-night accommodation in Beijing. Note Other personal expenses, dinner and accommodation fees of July 17 
are not included.
5) If you would like to participate in the extended optional tour to Beijing, depending on your home country location, it is our advice that participants book return tickets from Beijing to their home country, so that you can leave China directly after the trip and hence avoid the hassles.

• Currently enrolled in a college/university with at least one semester of attendance.
• Fluent in English.

Note: Successful applicants must pay Registration Fee RMB 400 to school upon registration.
