1. Program Introduction

Editor Notes: The graduate students are also required to lay a solid foundation on basic theories and can apply them in the future.

The graduate students are expected to do the following: to learn Economics, Econometrics, International Economics, International Trade and Practices, and Law of International Trade, to know the actual conditions of China, especially for the development of economy under the policy of reform and opening to the outside world, to understand the international trade of China, especially for the economic trade growth between the countries or districts of the overseas students and China. After learning the professional knowledge, the graduate students are also required to lay a solid foundation on basic theories and required specialized knowledge, to be able to conduct scientific research to a certain degree , to apply and embody them in his/her dissertation and future work.

2. Main Courses

The Supervisor Acceptance Letter is not required for this major. Students will be arranged to meet the supervisors after arrival by the School of Economics Courses: Over view of China, China and Globalization, Micro Economics, Macro Economics, International Business Environment and Operations, International Trade Case Study, Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility;

3. Requirements of Curriculum and Research

3.1. All the major courses are taught in English

3.2. The students are required to master Chinese according to the curriculum during the study

3.3. Theme, literature reading report, and dissertation can be prepared in English

3.4. The publicly-issued paper in journals is suggested to use English; it is also available for those overseas students to use their own language.

3.5. Dissertation is required to have Chinese abstract about at least 3000 words.

4. Graduation Certificate and Diploma of Master Degree

Editor Notes: Upon meeting graduation requirements, students will be granted Master degree.

After the successful oral defense and evaluation by the school committee, graduate department of the university and academic degrees committee of the university, the students will be issued a graduation certificate and the Master's Degree of International trade of the People's Republic of China.

6. About College of International Exchange (CIE)

Editor Notes: CIE is an important window showcasing the cooperation and communication between Shanghai University and the international communities.

IELTS (A) 6.5 or TOEFL IBT 90 or above received within the recent two years（TOEFL

Other internationally recognized English proficiency tests with scores of the same level and

TOEFL or IELTS Exemptions

The following types of applicants are exempt from taking the TOEFL or IELTS:

• The previous degree is fully taught in English.

Academic Requirement

Be a bachelors degree holder;

Graduates who did not receive their degree certificates at the time of application should provide pre-graduation certificates issued by their schools or colleges to prove their ability to graduate smoothly and obtain their degree certificates by July 2022

Relevant undergraduate academic background is required, or have completed undergraduate-level courses relevant to intended graduate major, with GPA 2.5 or above（Note: 4-Point GPA System）;

Accepted by a prospective professor at Shanghai University

Choose supervisor online when choosing a major in the online application system and get accepted by a prospective professor.

Please note that it is not required to choose supervisor for the following Master's programs: School of Economics, MBA center and SILC Business School. The colleges will arrange soon after they register at Shanghai University.

Students applying to programs of arts must have relative academic background and submit a portfolio. Please refer to detailed application requirements under the program introduction on application website.

Some colleges give priority to applicants with work experience, such as MBA Center.

For any applicants who can not get the Certificate of No Criminal Record at home country, please sign the No criminal record Commitment with Shanghai University.

*5. Selfie video

Applicants should submit a video including self-introduction and study plan in China. avi, mov, or mp4 less than 50 MB are accepted. The language of the video should be consistent with the language of the program you are applying for (English or Chinese).

*6. Information Page of Passport

A clear copy of your valid passport with your name, photo, birth date, place of birth, date of issue, date of expiry; Visa page is required for applicants who are currently in China. Visa page is required for applicants who are not in their home country.

*7. ID photo

The passport-size photo (one-inch, 390*570) should be taken within the last six months, bareheaded, full-faced with blue-color background; the photo is required to submit as JPG image less than 100kb.

*8. Academic Transcripts of Bachelor Degree

Academic Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization. Both original and official English translated version are required.
For applicants who haven’t graduated, pending graduation certificate and transcripts available till the application date are also acceptable. Official graduation certificate and transcripts of all grades shall be submitted timely after being received.

Certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization. Written in English or Chinese by two different professors or associate professors or experts from related fields.
The referee’s signature and contact information are necessary.And the date of recommendation letter should not be earlier than September,2022.

*12. Research Plan(including study plan and research proposal in China)

Written in English or Chinese (according to the teaching language of the program), more than 800 words, including research achievements so far (e.g. title and abstracts of graduation thesis or published paper), reasons of choosing SHU, study and research plan, future career plan, etc.

13. Supporting Documents: Certificate of Good Conduct

Provided by your current/previous school/company in Chinese/English to improve your success rate.
