Scholarship Information

1. All the master programs (apart from the MBA) in SCUT offers SCUT International Scholarship for Excellence to international students. The scholarship coverage varies from full tuition exemption of 3 years to half tuition exemption of 1 year. Please finish your application as soon as possible since the quota is limited.

2. The Chinese Government Scholarship for Postgraduate is available for all the master programs (apart from the MBA) in SCUT.

Scholarship coverage:

a. Exempt from registration fee, tuition, and accommodation fees on campus.
b. Monthly living allowance: RMB 3,000 for Master’s degree students and RMB 3,500 for Doctorate degree students;
c. Comprehensive Medical Insurancefor International Students in China.

If you want to apply the scholarship, please submit relevant documents to finish your application as soon as possible since the quota is limited.

(1) Bachelor's degree diploma and transcripts with good record. Those who have not graduated from undergraduate program, submit a pre-graduation certificate, or a testimonial which shows your expected graduation time and present your original certification, transcripts, and translations when you register.

(2) Language requirements for Chinese Medium programs (language certificate must be valid for the latest 2 years):

•HSK Band 4 with 180 scores or above for Science or Engineering studies

•HSK Band 5 with 180 scores or above for Liberal Arts, Economics, Arts and Design or Management studies

•HSK Band 5 with 210 scores or above for Journalism and Communication (Chinese Teaching and Communication)

(3) Those who do not have a HSK certificate can study in the Chinese Language program at SCUT prior to their degree programs until the required certificate has been completed.

(4) To apply for music related programs, please submit a DVD or CD of your live performance. To apply for architecture related programs or design related programs, please submit at least two sketches and two color paintings.

(5) A pre-acceptance letter signed by SCUT professors or associate professors.

(6) For MBA program applicants, must meet one of the following conditions and pass the evaluation of MBA center:

• Obtained at least 3 years of work experiences after the undergraduate degree

• Obtained at least 2 years of work experiences after the postgraduate degree

*5. Passport Copy (Valid duration covers your study period at SCUT)

With name, passport number & expiration date, and photo included(Photocopy of valid passport identification page. Passport must be an ordinary passport and be valid for at least six months. Applicants currently residing in China must include a copy of the page containing a valid visa or residence permit.)

*7. Undergraduate school transcript

Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.

*8. Bachelor's degree diploma

Bachelor's degree diploma and transcripts with good record. Those who have not graduated from undergraduate program, submit a Pregraduation Certificate, or a testimonial which shows your expected graduation time and present your original certification, transcripts and their translations when you register.

*9. Two letters of recommendation

Written in English from two respectable professors. including professors' contact no, email address and handwritten signature

*10. Personal Statement/Study Plan/Research Proposal

500 words minimum.

11. Supporting Documents: Certificate of Good Conduct

Provided by your current/previous school/company in Chinese/English to improve your success rate.
