1. Goals

Editor Notes: Most graduates are engaged in software development, testing, maintenance and project management in IT companies.

To meet the talents requirement of the world, the Program of Software Engineering is targeted at cultivating middle or higher-level talents with good qualities in humanities and social sciences, international vision, team-working spirit, solid knowledge foundation and good engineering abilities, who can qualify the jobs such as software development, testing, maintenance and project management in IT companies. The sub-goals are described as follows.

1. To have experience of standard software projects implementation, and have abilities of solve complex engineering problems using knowledge and technologies;

2. To be good at communication, and have abilities in effective management of software projects using knowledge of management and economic decision;

3. To have good qualities in humanities and social sciences, abide by professional ethics and standard, and consider non-technical factors such as environment, laws, ethics in engineering practice;

4. To have global vision and creative spirits, and keep learning new technologies in software engineering field.

2. Specification

Editor Notes: After learning this program, students will master the following abilities before graduation.

(1) Engineering Knowledge: Be able to use mathematical natural science, engineer fundamentals, and the major knowledge of software engineering to solve complex problems in the software fields.

(2) Problem analysis: Be able to use basic principles of mathematics, natural science, and engineering to recognize and express problems, and analyze the complex problems in software engineering areas through literature research to make effective conclusions.   

(3) Design/Develop solution schema: Be able to give the solution scheme for complex problems in software engineering areas, and the scheme should meet the needs of specific systems, unit (components). The social, health, security, law, literature, and environment factors should be considered in the scheme.

(4) Research: Be able to carry out research for complex engineering problems in the software engineering areas based on scientific principles and scientific methods, including the design of the experiments, analyze and explain data, and given reasonable and effective conclusions from information fusion.

(5) Utilize modern tools: Be able to develop, select, and use suitable techniques, resource, and modern engineering tools and information technique tools for complex engineering problems in the software engineering areas, including the prediction and simulation of the complex problems in the software engineering areas and understand their limitations.

(6) Engineering and the society: Be able to reasonably analyze, and evaluate the influence of the practice and the solution schemes of complex problem in the software engineering areas on the society, human health, security, law, and literature, and understand the corresponding responsibilities.

(7) Environment and continuous development: Be able to understand and evaluate the influence of our major engineering practices for complex problems in software engineering areas on the continuous development of the environment and the society.

(8) Professional morality: Obtain the personal characteristics of having human literature, and social responsibilities, and be able to understand and comply with the engineering professional morality and regulations in the engineering practices, and take the corresponding responsibilities.   

(9) Person and team: Be able to take the role of single person, team member, or the team leader in the team of multiple disciplines.

(10) Communication: Be able to effectively communicate with colleagues or the public about complex problems in software engineering areas, including writing and designing of the reports, making the speech, clearly expressing and responding commands. Moreover, be able to have international view and can communicate and express cross different cultures.

(11) Project management: Understand and master the principles of engineering and the methods for economy decision, and can apply them in multi-discipline environments.

(12) Life-time learning: Have the idea and the habit of self-learning and life-time learning, and the abilities of non-stop learning and making progress.

1.Applicant should be aged between 18 and 30 (born after September 1, 1993);

2.Applicant should be non-Chinese citizens with valid regular foreign passport and be friendly to China;

*Residents of China who have emigrated to a foreign country and who are now applying to study in China as international students must have held a valid foreign passport for at least 4 years, and must have actually resided in a foreign country for at least 2 years in the past 4 years (as of April 30, 2023). (9 months of residence in a foreign country may count as a full year. The dates of the entry and exit stamps in the passport will be followed in the determination of the actual length of foreign residence).

3.Applicant should hold a high school diploma with a satisfactory academic record;

4.Language requriement: applicant who apply for Chinese taught programs should have HSK 4 certificate or above。

5.Applicant should have no criminal record and no drug addiction history;

6.Aplicant should be in good health and have no serious infectious diseases.

Applicants studying in other universities in China.

*10. Study plan

No less than 1000 words, applicants who apply for English taught program should write the plan in English, applicants who apply for Chinese taught program should write in Chinese.

*11. Physical examination record for foreigner

Complete it in Chinese or English, The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.
