Introduction of the program

This program is taught in English for International Foundation Program courses (Undergraduate). The purpose of the program is to help international students master the basic professional knowledge of Chinese universities, cultivate enough language ability, master certain intercultural communication ability, and better adapt to their study and life in China.

Training Objects

The training objects of International Foundation Program are foreign high school graduates who are willing to come to Northwestern Polytechnical University for undergraduate education, and majored in engineering or business (taught in English) at undergraduate stage.

Curriculum Design

Subject Direction

This program has two directions of engineering and business. After successfully completing the specific courses and passing the examinations, students can enter the Northwestern Polytechnical University of technology to study engineering or business majors.

Training Objectives

This program aims to comprehensively cultivate the basic professional knowledge, language ability, cross-cultural communication ability and academic planning ability of students.

Basic Professional knowledge

Through the intensive teaching of professional basic knowledge from senior high school to university, we can fill in the differences of basic education between the countries where international students live and China, establish a relatively complete knowledge structure of high school, and get familiar with the content and difficulty of university professional courses in advance.

Language Ability

It includes practical English and basic Chinese. Among them, practical English includes comprehensive training of English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, expanded reading of scientific English and business English, etc. It aims to help international students from non English-speaking countries adapt to the language environment of English teaching major in advance, and initially have the English ability to learn, research and communicate. Basic Chinese will teach international students the necessary knowledge of Chinese pronunciations, vocabularies, sentences and daily conversations. The purpose is to help international students adapt to life in China.

Intercultural Communication Ability

Through Chinese culture courses, we will introduce Chinese history and culture, science and technology, economy, customs, social life, etc. It can help international students to reserve certain understanding, communication and problem-solving ability in campus life, interpersonal communication and social practice.

Academic Planning Ability

Relevant staffs from Admission Office will provide academic planning guidance lectures. They will introduce the major profile, academic planning, application process, etc. to international students, and help them plan their own academic development reasonably.

From the end of March to the end of July 2021, a total of 17 weeks (including one week final exam).

Teaching Methods

Customized small class teaching

• 1. Complete the national basic education, pass the graduation examination and qualified the examination, hold the high school diploma or pre-graduation certificate.
• 2. English level meets the entrance requirements.

*6. Academic transcripts

Transcripts of all courses of the applicant at learning stage. (A notarized Chinese or English translation must be attached to a text other than Chinese and English). Applicants who have obtained national/regional graduation examinations and other results should fill in and upload the original scanned copies in the system; if there is not, please submit the highest academic transcript in the system.

*7. A notarized academic certificate

A notarized Chinese or English translation must be attached to a text other than Chinese and English, and fresh graduates must submit a pre-graduation certificate.

*8. Non-criminal record certificate (produced within last 5 months).

9. Supporting Documents: Certificate of Good Conduct

Provided by your current/previous school/company in Chinese/English to improve your success rate.
