  • Around 50% of pre-college graduates can enter undergraduate programs at prestigious universities such as Jiaotong University, and the majority of the remaining 50% can enter well-known universities like Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, and Zhejiang University.
Program Description

Introduction 

Pre-University Program of Lifelong Education College, SJTU is a non-degree program designed for international students to enhance their language skills, academic performance, and cultural adaptability. The students can thus lay a solid foundation for their further undergraduate study.
Pre-University Program consists of:
Program A: This program is designed for students who have already reached a good level of Chinese language proficiency (HSK 4 ≧ 180 or equivalent) but need remediation of academic subjects of Chinese, English and Mathematics to meet the requirements of SJTU undergraduate admissions.
Program B: This program is suitable for students who possess limited or no Chinese language skills but perform well in other subjects. Students are given intensive Chinese language training. They can also make further progress in English, Mathematics and other subject s to meet the requirements of SJTU undergraduate admissions.
Program C: This program is an English-taught program, suitable for the international students who have a certain English foundation but need remediation of English, Mathematics and other academic subjects to meet the requirements of SJTU undergraduate admissions.

Students in each program are streamed according to their needs of undergraduate program admission into two classes: Science, Engineering, Agriculture & Medicine class and Humanities & Social Science class. Students in Science, Engineering, Agriculture & Medicine class can apply for majors of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Chemistry Engineering and Technology, Statistics, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine, Stomatology and other related majors. Students in Humanities & Social Science class can apply for majors of Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Mass Communication, Television Screenwriting, Visual Communication, Foreign Language and other related majors.

The above program is an extension program, not related to any credit or degree. It is an academic course that is taken by students voluntarily.

Registration for Program A (For Transferred Student) will begin in February, 2025 (the specific time will be informed on the admission notice), with one semester in half a year.

Registration for Program B (For Transferred Student) will start in February, 2025 (the specific time will be informed on the admission notice), with three semesters in 1.5 school years.

*8. Personal statement in Chinese or English

With signature, contents should include but not limited to personal background, hobbies and expertise, reasons for applying the program and study plan.

9. Applicants whose one or both parents are Chinese citizens should provide the following materials

Certificate of the applicant obtained foreign nationality at birth or afterward.
The nationality or household registration certificate of both the applicant's parents (passport or ID card).
For applicants who obtained foreign nationality at birth, 1) if one or both of the parents are Chinese citizens with permanent residence abroad, certificate of the corresponding permanent residence needs to be provided; 2) if one or both of the parents are Chinese citizens without permanent residence abroad, certificate of the withdrawal from Chinese nationality of the applicant needs to be provided.
For applicants who were originally Chinese citizens and obtained foreign nationalities afterward, a certificate for the cancellation of their original registered residence in China and the renunciation of the Chinese nationality should be provided.
The entry and exit seal page of visiting China on the applicant's passport from April 30, 2018 to the time of application.
