a. Semester

The school year can be divided into three semesters. The summer semester commences from early September and ends at the end of September. The autumn semester begins from early October and ends at the end of January the following year, and then the winter vacation follows. The spring semester starts in the middle of February and ends in early July, and then the summer vacation starts.

b. Teaching

The teaching lasts 4 weeks for the first semester in which students may have lectures or do internships, 16 weeks for the second and third semesters in which students study all courses. Besides, there are 2 weeks suspended before the end of second and third semesters during which students can make preparation for final examinations.

c. Credits Requirements

The total number of credits for students of science and engineering is 170 or so (the number of credits for theoretical subjects is about 140 and about 30 for practice). The total number of credits for students of arts, economics and management is 160. Each student is required to complete at least 20 credits in a semester.

1) Admission is open to non-Chinese citizens who are in good health.

2) Educational background and age limit: 

For undergraduates: applicants are less than 28 years old with a high school certificate; Students under 18 can also apply but they might need to find an adult(your family member, relatives or friends) living in China, better a Chinese, as your guarantor in China before you can apply, and your guarantor will need to provide related documents like guardian letter for you to support your application. 

3) Academic Requirements: 

i. Academic scores must be 70% above; 

ii. Language Requirements: HSK 4 or above;

*4. Physical Examination Form and the Report on Blood Examination

Applicants should strictly follow the Foreigner Physical Examination Form for inspection. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant will be considered as invalid. Please carefully arrange your physical examination schedule as the physical examination result is valid for only 6 months.

Including a copy of the information page (with your photo) in your passport. If your passport expires before December 2023, you are highly suggested to apply for a new one before submission.

*8. Academic transcript

Copy of high school official transcripts. If the above materials are neither in Chinese nor in English, one has to present notarized Chinese or English version.
Note: If applicants are enrolled as current university students in China, they should also submit the study certificate and approved transfer letter from their previous institutions.

*9. High school graduate certificate

Certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization. Both original and official English translated version are required.

*10. Research plan and previous research program information

Applicants shall submit reports written in English or Chinese with a minimum of 800 words about their study intention at NJUST. The report includes the educational background, working experiences, motivation of studying at NJUST, reasons for choosing majors, and personal career planning after graduation, etc.

11. Supporting Documents: Certificate of Good Conduct

Provided by your current/previous school/company in Chinese/English to improve your success rate.
