 Introduction to the program

University (ZZU) is one of the National Project 211 Universities, the Midwest Universities Comprehensive Strength Promotion Project and the Co-built by the Ministry of Education of China and the People’s Government of Henan Province. Zhengzhou University entered the ranks of the National World - Class Universities. With full facility of four campuses, Zhengzhou University has at present 54,000 full-time undergraduates, 21,000 postgraduates and nearly 2,500 international students. The medical education of ZZU started from 1928 and the clinical medicine is one the National World – Class disciplines. With its 10 affiliated hospitals, ZZU has 36 national key clinical specialties, 149 provincial clinical specialties, 30,000 patient beds and the outpatient number reaches 1.78 million. Zhengzhou University has 2 national drug clinical research bases and therefore was listed as the national doctor training university. In 2017 Study in China — The First Clinical Thinking and Skills Competition for International Medical Students in China, ZZU won the First Prize Title in General, and “the Excellent Team Award”, “the Best Team Cooperation Award", "the Excellent Award for Internal Medicine" and "the Excellent Award for Pediatric Skills".

Zhengzhou University Pre-Medicine (in English) Program offers bridge courses connecting students from high school to the university. The program enables international students to consolidate their foundation in natural science and medical propaedeutic which will also facilitate the improvement of academic and professional English, as well as day-to-day Chinese language skills. It also lays a strong foundation for international students enabling them a smooth transition from high school to the MBBS, or BDS program.

2.Target Students

Students whose scores do not meet the entry requirements of the medical programs; 

Students who plan to study preparatory courses in medicine.

3. Main Courses

The program consists of four modules: basic learning module, English learning module, medical contact module and daily Chinese module respectively.

a) Daily Chinese Module will enhance the international students’ knowledge in listening and speaking Chinese language which will help them to master basic communicative skills and provide convenience to live in China.

b) English Learning Module allows the international students to be well versed in academic and medical English. Academic English entails training students to use language appropriately for study, particularly in developing students’ academic writing and reading skills in terms of grammatical accuracy, cohesion, coherence and etc. Medical English focuses instruction on language skills required to perform in an English-speaking academic context across core subject areas generally encountered in a university setting, such as medical prefixes, suffixes, combining forms and etc.

c) Basic Learning Module allows the international students to evaluate their knowledge and reinforced understanding of core science subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry and basic medicine.

d) Medical Preparatory Module includes a variety of workshops, group discussions and training which would enrich the aspiring student to possess up knowledge of studying in medical. Students will also get a chance to visit the medical laboratories and the university hospitals which would enable them to analyze the challenges they face during their study.

4. Study Campus

It will be the main campus of Zhengzhou University, if student can come to China. Otherwise all class will be delivered online.

5. Study Schedule

March to September 2023
1) Module learning: March -July 2023
2) Module review: July to September 2023
3) Final exam: September 2023

March 1-2, 2023 (The specific time will be dependent on final notification.)

8. Course Assessment

Final examinations will be held during mid-September 2021. The assessment panel will make a detailed evaluation on the test scores and declare the results based on which the student will get an entry to the MBBS, BDS, Medical Imaging, Anesthesiology program at Zhengzhou University.

9. Certificate Award 

a). Certificate awarded upon successful completion of the Pre-program and passing all exams;

b). Study certificate issued upon completion of the PBPME but not passing all exams;

c). No certificated issued if failing to take exams.

High school result of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology should not less than 10-15% of the scores required by the entry requirements of the medical undergraduate programs in Zhengzhou University.
