The first-level discipline of Computer Science and Technology is a first-level doctor degree discipline approved by Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 2013. As early as 2005, the School have been awarded as the authorized unit for master degree in the first-level discipline , offering Master Degree in Engineering, including three second-grade disciplines of " computer architecture", "computer software and theory "and “computer application technology". at the present , all of them are provincial and ministerial level key disciplines.

The training objectives: to cultivate advanced specialized talents who lay a solid foundation on computer science and technology basic theory, a systematic knowledge of computer software, hardware, computer system structure, and computer application technology expertise, excel in computer hardware and software environment and tools, and can engage in researches in computer systems, software systems, Computational theory, and solve problems occurring in other disciplines’ theoretical researches and application by means of computer technology so as to meet the needs of cloud computing, large data and "Internet +" development.

Based on the specialized research on computer network, network parallel computing, embedded system and application, the discipline of computer architecture focuses on cloud computing, next-generation computer network architecture and protocol, network measurement, network behavior, network security, new wireless broadband network access technology, network and parallel computing.

Based on computing intelligence, network intelligence, application-oriented software engineering research and development, spatial database software theory, the discipline of computer software and theory carries out research on theories of software such as computer intelligence and data mining as well as their application, key technologies in the area of online public opinion, streaming media transmission, swarm intelligence and other phenomena and their simulation, Core technology such as embedded system software, security software, image software, and other researches on component-based geographic information system platform, spatial data warehouse, Spatial-Temporal Database.

In the field of computer application technology, the priorities are given to the research and application of such intelligent information processing as rough set in the orientation of intelligent information processing, large data mining, computer network and communication, network intelligence, information security, pattern recognition; research on methods and techniques of network management and flow measurement; network intelligence behavior and its simulation; the development of network security products such as intrusion detection and computer forensics; wireless access; transmission technology; intelligent multimedia technology; machine vision and medical image processing; geographic information system, global positioning technology and its application.

The main degree and professional courses are: advanced computer network architecture, advanced Computer Architecture, Introduction of the Theory of Computation, advanced software engineering, Object-Oriented Methodology, The principles of Artificial Intelligence, advanced technology of database system, Principles and implementation of Internet protocol, embedded system design, operating system kernel and design principle, network computing, broadband network technology, distributed and parallel computing, cloud computing, spatial location technology, rough set theory and data mining, artificial intelligence with uncertainty, computer graphics and 3D modeling , Distributed and parallel computing, network and information security, computer forensics, digital media and network intelligence.

• Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, have attained a bachelor's degree, and under the age of 35, in good health.
• Language Proficiency Requirement:English-taught programs: IELTS≧6.0 or TOEFL≧75 or equivalent.
