1. Program Overview

Editor Notes: The purpose of this program is to train high-level application-oriented professionals.

International Business provides students with the knowledge and skills required to survive and thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. Students will gain an understanding of the tools, techniques and practical skills associated with operating an organization across borders, and an appreciation of the interactions between firms, governments and society in an international context. They will master the ability of theoretical analysis and doing international business. All the courses of this program, except a few Chinese-related ones, will be taught in English.

              

• Grasp the fundamental theories, knowledge and skills of international economics and trade; 
• Be quick in the awareness of the current economics and trade, marketing management both at home and abroad; 
• Comprehend and apply into practice the current accepted standards, rules, regulations of international economics and trade and can solve practical problems in this field.

The programme offers students an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge with regard to global business. The modules undertaken in this programme reflect such a perspective with students best placed to take up employment within global organizations. The business students will develop their skills in critical analysis, information processing, and data presentation. They prepare for a range of careers in international business and management, with the skills and outlook to thrive in an increasingly interconnected global workplace.                 

     

2. Main Courses

Editor Notes: Students will study at least 13 courses.

The International Business is awarded to students who successfully complete five taught modules (138 credit points) including research dissertation and past the fourth level of new HSK. Students may expect a variety of assessment types (reports, presentations, essays, exams) aimed to enhance skills development, critical analysis and capacity building.

Core courses: International Economics, Principles of Management, China's international trade practice, International Finance, International Marketing, International Business Law, Basic E-commerce, International business negotiation, Multinational Corporation Management, etc.

Practices include Social Investigation/Study-abroad Program, Field Practice, Entrepreneur Practice, Corporation Internship, Graduation Internship, and Graduation Thesis.

To promote the development of economy has become one of the main goals of governments all over the world. At present and in the future 20 years Chinese economy is still in rapid growth, especially in Zhejiang province, which is located in the Yangtze River Delta, one of the most developed provinces in China. The whole world and China as well as Zhejiang Province have a great demand for internationalized trade talents, which provides good employment prospects for graduates who are major in Economics and Trade and Marketing.

A practice oriented program

Lectures are also often interspersed with discussion, group exercises and case studies which allow students to engage with theories and concepts and reflect on their application in practice. In collaboration with the local multinational enterprises and commercial organizations, as well as guest lecturers from multinational companies, non-governmental organizations and local companies, our students are provided with regular insights into reality of business practices.

This programme provides the knowledge and skills which are sought by employers - SMEs focused on business intelligence, trade or business solutions, manufacturing companies, multinational enterprises, international institutions and NGOs and government agencies responsible for trade and international cooperation - as well the consulting industry.

A multicultural study environment

The International Business programme is run in a multicultural teaching environment with local and international students working and engaging together. The multinational environment coupled with the relatively small class sizes allow for a very strong learning experience where key intercultural competence's can be gained through various interactions. 

         

 

1) Applicant should be aged between 18 and 45.

2) Applicant should be in good health.

3) With a high school degree or above, fresh high school graduates will be issued a pre-graduation certificate by the school they are attending.

4) Applicant should be foreign citizens. Foreign citizens of Chinese origin who are now applying to study in China as international students must have held a valid foreign passport for at least 4 years, and must have actually resided in a foreign country for at least 2 years in the past 4 years (as of April 30, 2023) (9 months of residence in a foreign country may count as a full year).

5) Applicant should have no criminal record and no drug addiction history; Applicant should be willing to abide by the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China and relevant school regulations.

6) Language proficiency: Applicant for English-taught programs must provide IELTS, TOEFL or other English proficiency certificates or pass the Zhejiang University of Science and Technology Entrance English Test. IELTS scores must reach 5.5 points or above, TOEFL iBT scores must reach 80 points or above.

7) Applicant should take the university entrance examination or assessment.
