Xiangtan is well connected by roads, river and rail. There is a shuttle bus service connecting to Changsha Huanghua International Airport.

It is located in Shaoshan Village of Shaoshan township in Shaoshan City, Xiangtan prefecture, Hunan Province, China. The building was the birthplace and childhood home of Mao Zedong, the first leader of the People's Republic of China. It has a building area of about 472.92 square meters, embodies buildings such as the old houses (故居老屋), the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall (毛泽东纪念馆), the statue of Mao Zedong (毛泽东铜像), the Cultural relics Exhibition Hall (文物展览馆), Dishui Hole (滴水洞).
