Kunming International Airport

Kunming Changshui International Airport has been put into operation since June 28th, 2012. It replaced the former Kunming Wujiaba International Airport and became China’s 4th national hub airport after the airports of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Presently, there are 17 airlines companies in the airport providing flights to domestic cities and international cities and regions, including Beijing, Chengdu, Guilin, Lhasa, Shanghai, Sanya, Xian, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok, etc. Passengers can easily get to the city by air.

Kunming Subway

Nine subway lines will be built in Kunming City which will connect the major passenger distribution centers around the city. Currently, four lines are under construction, including line 1, line 2, line 3, and line 6. The first phase of line 6 has already been in operation since 28th June, 2012, and the south section of the first phase of line 1 has been in trial operation from Feb. 6, 2013. Passengers can take subway line 6 to travel between the East Bus Station and the Airport Center. It is also easy to go from Xiaodong village to the University Town via the South Bus Station by the south section of the first phase of line 1. 

Kunming Taxi

Taking a taxi is convenient. The fare for Santana is 8 Yuan for the first three kilometers (about 1.9 miles) and 1.8 Yuan for each additional kilometer. After 22:00, the flag-down-rate increases to 9.6 Yuan and 2.7 Yuan for every additional kilometer (about 0.6 miles). The flag-down-rate of a mini taxi is 7 Yuan for the first three kilometers (about 1.9 miles) and 1.6 Yuan for every kilometer (about 0.6 miles) thereafter. Note: inside each taxi there is a distinctive animal image that identifies taxi ownership. Keep the image in mind in case you leave something behind.
