Nanchong Railway Station is seated in 1, Tiexin Lu, Shunqing District. Trains to Chengdu will depart every two hours. Nanchong Bus Station in 1, Jiaxi Lu of Jialing District is the central road transport terminal of northern Sichuan. The tourist bus station in 49, Renmin Nan Lu of Shunqing District is another bus station in the city proper, and meanwhile, it is the only enterprise with car renting services that is appointed by the city's Tourism Bureau.

As with the rest of the Sichuan Basin, Nanchong has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate with high humidity year-round; winters are short and mild while summers long, hot, and humid.  The monthly 24-hour average temperature ranges from 6.4 °C (43.5 °F) in January to 27.5 °C (81.5 °F) in August; the annual mean is 17.33 °C (63.2 °F). 

Langzhong Ancient City stands on the bank of Jialing River beside the new city district of Langzhong City. It was the capital of the Ba Kingdom in Warring States Period (476BC-221BC) until the Qin (221BC-206BC) wiped out the kingdom over twenty-three thousand years ago. In the end of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and the start of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Langzhong has been the temporary capital of Sichuan for seventeen years. It was always spoken of as the political, military and culture center of northern Sichuan by feudal lords.
